1986, Kanto

It happened one morning
A boy with extrasensory powers awoke in bed transformed into Kadabra.
Name: ???
Age: Unknown
Region: Kanto
Hometown: Saffron City
Current Location: Unknown

A man dressed in a lab coat read through the file again before turning towards his colleagues. There were two others currently in the room. The remaining few on their team were elsewhere at the moment. “Why is his location unknown? We have the boy’s hometown, so wouldn’t that mean his location is known?”
“His parents were reported saying that he ran away from home sometime after he changed. No one has seen or heard of him since he fled.” One of them replied.
“Hehe, fled. Pun intended?” Another chuckled sarcastically.
Both of the other scientists in the lab narrowed their eyes at their sarcastic colleague. “That’s not very funny. Show some respect for the boy, George.”
The sarcastic scientist, George, scowled at the others, but made no comment.
“So are we going to do anything about the boy? Our benefactor would undoubtedly be interested in him, don’t you think?” The first scientist asked as he held the files up to the others. “Well?”
“We can contact him later, but what were you planning on doing with the boy-turned-Pokemon? Our benefactor is paying us to find a way to keep him alive throughout this war. How could the boy help us? This kid…Kadabra boy is irrelevant to our benefactor.”
“Were you planning on using the boy in some way or another? Or are you hoping to find a way to revert him back to a human? Uh…need I remind you that we’re not exactly being paid to do that, Adam?”
“Help him? No, I want to know what caused the change. I want to see if we could repeat the process. Imagine all of the possibilities that could be obtained if we learned how to control the change! We could give both our soldiers and our benefactor abilities possessed only by Pokemon. Hell, we could even discover ways to break down the language barrier between Pokemon and their human masters.” The first scientist, Adam, responded. “It may be hard, and it may take a while to figure out the secret behind the change, but I believe--”
“Our benefactor is going to stop supplying us money if we’re going to spend what he has given us on…private projects.”
        “But--”
“Even if we decided to do this, how will we run our experiments? The boy may still be in Kanto, but he will not be easy to locate. Finding a willing human test subject will not be easy either.” George added.
“We can call our benefactor and see if he can supply us with willing subjects; both Pokemon and humans.” Adam said as he turned to a tele-computer and dialed in the number given to them by their benefactor.
The phone rang a couple times before the figure of a woman sitting in shadows appeared on the other end. The only thing that the three scientists could make out was her dark hair and her red, business jacket that hugged her slim figure. Beside her, stood a slender, purple-haired woman dressed in a dark outfit. The scientists stared at the two women, puzzled. Had they dialed the wrong number?
“What do you want? Why did you call?” The woman in the office chair snapped.
“Uh…sorry, ma’am, but we may have dialed the wrong number by mistake.” George apologized. “We didn’t mean to bother you two. We’ll--”
“You’re one of the groups of scientists that my cowardice son hired? Honestly, he is wasting my money.” The woman growled under her breath. “Well, what do you three want? Don’t waste anymore of my time by stuttering.”
“Yes, ma’am. Uh…we believe that we have something that could potentially help your son, but we’re lacking test subjects…”
        “And?”
“We were hoping to get in touch with your son, and speak to him about this.”
“It is my money that he is spending. If there is anyone that you three should be requesting the attention and permission of for your little projects, it’s me. So what test subjects do you need and what will you be doing with them?” The woman asked. There was a slight hiss in her voice.
“Pokemon…and humans. Have you heard about the boy turned Pokemon? The—uh-- Kadabra boy?” Adam asked as he held up the boy’s file.
        The woman didn’t respond.
Adam swallowed. He’d be lying if he said the woman didn’t unnerve him a bit. He would have much rather been speaking with their benefactor than his mother.  “We’re hoping that we can learn from the Kadabra boy by studying him, Pokemon, and human test subjects. We…we just need to find him and a few willing subjects. Problem is, we don’t know where the boy is…and finding said willing test subjects--”
“What will they be used for? How will it be helping my son?” The woman asked. There was a little less venom in her voice, but there was still a bit of firmness within it to keep the trio of scientists weary of her. “If this isn’t something for my son, then I want to know how it will be earning me some profit.”
“Profit?” George asked, completely caught off guard.
“What do you mean by that, ma’am? We just want to know what caused the change for the boy and see if it can be repeated. Then, once we figure it out, we’ll move onto solving other poss--”
“My son is paying you all a king’s ransom. I want my money back some way or another. You three seem to be onto something, and if your private project holds some profit, then I want in, savvy?”
The trio of scientists looked at each other and frowned. “And by profit…who would we be selling our research to, ma’am? This would be for you, wouldn’t it? We would only be receiving money from you…er, your son.”
“Though, whatever we discover will be free for you to use.” George added.
The woman sighed heavily. Her patience was thinning with the three men. “You said that you wanted to find out the secret to the change, right? I will have my grunts search for your Kadabra boy and ‘willing’ lab rats. Of course, finding the boy may take longer than gathering test subjects. Will you be alright with that?”
The question sounded more like a command.
“But…ma’am, I doubt there will be many willing volunteers.” Adam pointed out.
“I know that, you dimwits!” The woman snapped. “You don’t need to worry about what volunteers or subjects my grunts will find for you. The only thing you all need to worry about is doing your job.”
        “But the boy--”
“Work with the subjects you are given until the Kadabra is delivered to you!” The woman growled. She pinched the bridge of her nose and groaned. “Honestly, I thought you three were hired by my son for your intellects. I guess Brat Boy was so caught up in saving his own hide that he hired a bunch of numbskulls to ‘save’ him. What a horrid waste of my money. I thought I raised him better.”
        “Yes, ma’am.” George said slowly.
“When do we start, ma’am?” Adam asked.
The woman looked up at them and grinned smugly at them. “I will have my grunts begin within the hour. “Miyamoto, if you would be so kind to go make the announcement to the others. I’m sure these gentlemen are eager to begin their work.”
“Yes, Madam Boss.” Miyamoto said with a bow to the sitting woman. She quickly turned from the camera and walked away to give the woman’s orders to all the grunts in the base.
“Best of luck, gentlemen. Oh, and let’s keep this little project to ourselves. My son doesn’t need to know about this. Alright?” Madam Boss said with a sly smirk. “I expect great things from this little project of ours.”

A/N: Madam Boss is indeed a character from the Pokemon world, but very little is known about her so...I'm going to try and see what I can do with her. From what I have read/learned she is very interesting, but also pretty different from her son.
Anyhoos, hope you all enjoy this new story, and Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah!
