4. Earn A Second Chance And Make It Last

The next day the boys walk back into Rocque Records as a group, with Caitlynn by their side.

They meet up with Gustavo's team in the middle of the lobby.

"Well?" Gustavo shouts. Kendall smiles confidently.

"Ok. We'll do it your way. No goofing off, no pillow fights, and no questions for the next two days."

Caitlynn did not know what happened yesterday, but it sure sounded like a lot of fun.

"Ok, Girl Time, from the top," Gustavo orders, turning around to lead them back into the studio.

"Gustavo, Girl Time is a trash song that would've flopped in the 90's, and sure as hell would bomb today," Caitlynn says, crossing her arms.

Gustavo scoffs loudly. "Oh yeah? And I suppose you brought a better song, too?"

Caitlynn fakes patting around her pockets and gives Gustavo the time to laugh.

"Ha! I knew you didn't have a hit song--"

"Like this?" Caitlynn pulls a folded sheet of paper out of her back pocket. Gustavo grumbles, "What's this song even about, anyway," He looks back at the boys while unfolding the paper.

"It's a song about four hockey players from Minnesota who have an amazing opportunity in front of them," Kendall glaces at Caitlynn, "and they're gonna fight for the chance to make the most of it."

Caitlynn smiles brightly while Gustavo reads the song.

"What's the dogs' better song title to go along with it?"

"Big time. Rush," The boys say together.

"I like it," Kelly chimes in. She glares at Gustavo. "And you have got to stop using 'Girl' in all your songs."

"It's long overdue," Caitlynn agrees.

"I... like it also," Gustavo relents. Caitlynn silently cheers with the boys and high fives James and Logan.

"We're gonna be working all night! Friday is only two days away, and we are in a Big Time Rush."

The group continues to cheer as Gustavo continues.

"Ok! Big Time Rush, from the top!"

--

Two days later, the boys are performing the song in front of Griffin and his team.

"If you want it all
Lay it on the line
It's the only life you got
So you gotta live it big time,"

The boys finish their song and everyone looks to Griffin.

"I like 'em. And the board's gonna love 'em!" Griffin finally says.

Caitlynn throws her arms into the air in silent celebration.

"You've got three months to make your demos," He turns to Gustavo with a condescending grin. "I told you the boy band was back. Now I've gotta go, my pants are cold."

And with that, Griffin exits the room. After giving a quick thumbs up to the band, she rushes after him.

"Wait, wait, Griffin," She runs to stop him from leaving.

"What is it? I need my warm pants," He complains.

"I need to meet with you tomorrow to discuss my future here at Rocque Records," Caitlynn states, crossing her arms.

Griffin looks to both of his associates with a blank stare, but knowing Griffin it could mean anything.

"Alright. Come to my office tomorrow at three, we can discuss it then."

Caitlynn nods once before leaving, a smug smile on her face.

She walks back into the studio to see the boys celebrating. The run toward her and Carlos picks her up and spins once.

"Thank you thank you thank you!" Carlos thanks, putting her down.

"We couldn't have done this without you," Logan says, pulling her into a hug. She smiles at them all as she pulls away.

"Well, I was too excited to work with you guys to let you leave so soon."

She didn't notice Logan's arm around her until he took it off when Gustavo brought their attention to him.

"Stop cheering! If you thought the last three days were hard, wait till you see the next 3 months. Carlos still can't sing, Logan still can't dance, And I still can't stand James."

The group just laughs.

"We'll work on it." Kendall reassures.

"Ok, now you can celebrate."

The next day Caitlynn comes in with a smug smile on her face as she walks into Griffin's office.

"So, you wanted to discuss your future here?" Griffin asks. Caitlynn nods as she sits down.

"When I accepted the offer to come here and record, I accepted a solo offer. But, when we went to Minnesota, we also offered Kendall a solo contract, but he declined and argued to bring all the guys as a group," Caitlynn explains.

"Where are you going with this," Griffin Narrows his eyes.

"I'm saying that I want to bring the Sirens to LA to sign with Rocque Records," Caitlynn states. Griffin sighs.

"The Sirens? What was that, your band?"

Caitlynn gives him a firm nod. Griffin sets his hands on the desk.

"I don't know if it's because of the new boy band or because Gustavo is growing soft, but I'm not going to sign your group just because you ask for it."

Caitlynn shrugs. "Ok. But, if you don't, I'm ending my contract and I'll take my music somewhere else."

Griffin stiffens in his chair. "Ok. You do that, just know that nobody else will sign you in this town if you leave in the middle of your contract."

Caitlynn rolls her eyes and tightens her grip on the arms of the chair.

"It's a city."

"What?"

"Hollywood is a city, not a town, thank you. And, just so you know," She narrows her eyes with a smirk, "I contacted five other record companies who said they'd sign me in a heartbeat if I became available. Because yeah, leaving in the middle of my contract could make me look bad," She shrugs, "but I think the fact that I made twenty million dollars the first two months my first album was released really cancels that out."

She leans forward in her chair and glares at Griffin. "I want you to sign my band. Fly them out from San Francisco, all expenses paid, a three month period to get a demo together. Or I walk."

She sits back and crosses her arms.

Griffin is silent for a few tense moments.

"Is it the Sirens or just Sirens?" He asks with a fake smile.

She won.

"The Sirens, thank you."
