Ep. 3
7. Plans Are Easy To Carry Out, Annoying To Make
"You sadden me," Caitlynn pouts, flopping onto the sofa in the living room. She was on a call with Avery.
"I'm sorry, Cait, but it's not as easy getting three teenagers and a grown man to LA as it is one girl. We have to set up school-"
"- and Josh has to find a job, yeah I know," Caitlynn sighs. "Doesn't mean I can't be sad about it.
" As long as you don't get pouty, ok? I don't want your new friends to go through what we did when you and Jackie split up," Avery complains. Caitlynn pouts. "I was not that bad."
"I can hear your pout."
Caitlynn stops pouting and grits her teeth. "I was not that bad."
"Yeah, Jackson was worse," Avery laughs. Caitlynn grins and rolls her eyes. "He was the one getting over me, not the other way around."
"If you wanna lie to yourself, sure." Avery teases. Caitlynn fake gasps. "I don't need this from you."
"Whatever, I gotta go. Love you, bye."
"Love you too, bitch." At Avery's indignant cry, she ends the call.
--
"Caitlynn!" The boys came running into the lobby. Caitlynn looks up from where she was sitting.
"Yeah?"
"Have you seen Camile anywhere? We need her," Kendall says. Caitlynn points at the door to the pool where Camile comes walking in. She slaps Kendall and says a few lines from an audition she's working on before Kendall stops her.
"Camile! We need to borrow your acting!"
She shrugs with a carefree smile, "Sure."
Caitlynn stands and joins them in their huddle.
"What's up?"
"We want to renovate the apartment and we have a plan on how to do it. But we need you two to help us," Kendall explains.
"We're shooting a promotion video for the founder, Fujizaki, and the set is incredible," James says.
"It has a swirly slide!" Carlos exclaims.
"And we need Camile's acting to get them to build it in our apartment instead of the studio and Rocque Records," Logan finishes. Caitlynn nods.
"Ok, what's the plan?" She asks.
The boys look at each other, unsure. "Well, that's what we need your help with."
Caitlynn laughs. "Ok, this'll be easy then. Just do everything I say, and we'll have your big time crib in no time."
--
The boys, Camille, and Caitlynn were stationed right outside the warehouse where the crew Griffin hired was. Caitlynn hands Camille a clipboard and a business card.
"Ok, Camille, you just need to convince them to build it at the Palm Woods and not the studio, and give her this card so she doesn't call Griffin, but us instead."
Camille nods with a confident smile, before marching into the warehouse like she was supposed to be there.
"Do you really think this is gonna work?" Logan asks warily. Caitlynn smiles. "Of course, Camille is the best actress I know. She can pull this off."
Just then, the phone in Kendall's hand rings. He answers it with a fake falsetto, "Arther Griffin's office? One moment please," He says before handing the phone off to Logan. Logan holds the phone away from his face, glaring at Kendall.
"Do your Griffin impression," Kendall whispers, moving Logan's outstretched arm up to his face. James and Carlos nod excitedly.
"What? No!" Logan protests. Caitlynn pinches his arm to get a reaction out of him. Logan yelps and begrudgingly begins to imitate Griffin on the phone.
"Hello? Uh-huh. Yes." Camille comes back and high fives Caitlynn. "Move that set to the Palm Woods, now. Ok I need to touch my Llama now bye!" Logan slams the phone shut.
The group celebrates for a moment until Logan shuts them down. "All you've done is set us up for big time trouble!"
"Logan, don't exclude yourself, you were a part of this, too," Caitlynn laughs. Logan shakes his head with a frown.
"Oh our little Logie, so pessimistic," Kendall laughs. "So scared of everything," Carlos chimes in. Caitlynn laughs at the boys teasing Logan.
"I'm not scared, I'm realistic, as in what are you gonna tell your mom about the crew that's going to be invading your apartment from 11 to 3?"
--
Caitlynn was eating dinner at the boys' apartment, waiting to see Mrs. Knight's reaction to the news. She was sitting next to Logan and James, at the end of the table.
"Oh, I almost forgot, I'm going to look for a job tomorrow so I'll be gone from about 11-3." She says, placing down the plate of hot dogs and walking out of the room.
Kendall smirks at Logan. "Ok," Logan says, "That happened. But what now?"
Kendall stared at nothing for a second before saying, "I have no clue. I'm surprised we even made it this far."
"Look," James says, showing off the bandanas he tied around his wrists, "wrist-danas."
Caitlynn laughed before grabbing a hotdog off of the plate Mrs. Knight set down. "Guys, we need to be worried about Gustavo. What are we going to do to convince him to shoot at the Palm Woods?"
"Right!" Kendall says. "We need someone who can think like him, someone who can get inside of his head. Where are we gonna find someone that devious?"Katie walks in from her room to grab a hot dog off of the plate. She stops to take in everyone staring at her. "What?"
--
A minute later, Katie had everyone sat down around the living room while she went over a new plan laid out on a whiteboard.
"First, you're gonna need more future stars from the Palm Woods. I recommend the Jennifers for their lack of fear. Next you're gonna need power tools, sawdust, cool code phrases-"
"Wait, Kaite," Kendall stops her, "Where did you get the whiteboard?"
Katie looks guilty for a moment before they all hear a muffled scream come from the lobby. Caitlynn laughs as Katie continues on, "Speaking of Bitters, you'll have to keep him in his cage all day. But the key to this whole ultra 2-j makeover is convincing Gustavo to shoot the interviews by the pool like that dog food commercial last night."
"Right!" Kendall stands up, "And once our teen dream remodeling is complete, he'll have no time, and no choice but to shoot our rockin' performance right here."
"And," Katie crosses her arms, "I get first turn on the swirly slide." Carlos stands up, "No, I get first turn!" Caitlynn rolls her eyes at their argument before Kendall yells, "You can go together!"
James stands up and tightens the bandana around his head. "Let's do this." He brings up three bandanas. Kendall, Logan, and Carlos chorus, "We're not wearing bandanas!"
"Bandanas are cool!"
