SIX YEARS LATER

A sigh left my lips as I drove past the sign that said "Welcome to Beacon Hills." I never thought that I would set foot back in Beacon Hills again but here I am driving myself into this town once again. And for what? For Kate Argent that passed away. It was a few days ago when I got the call from Chris Argent telling me his sister passed away and like always me being a close friend of Chris he asked me that I join for the funeral. I closed my eyes for a split second and opened them again coming around the turn. All you could see was the green woods and the clear sky. I opened my window and took a deep breath, inhaling the clean air. I smiled as I passed Beacon Hills high school and snorted as I remembered all the stuff me and my friends were up to that almost got us expelled. But what is life if you can't make memories?

I put my car in full gear and sped up to the hospital. I smiled as I suddenly could see the hospital in my view. There were a lot of cars in the parking lot so I had to park at the end of the parking lot. With a sign, I put the engine off and looked in the mirror at myself. I grabbed my bag and reached for the handle before climbing out.

I got out and shut the door of my black 1970 Plymouth Barracuda V10 before pushing my hair out of my eyes. I took a deep breath and gazed at the familiar hospital. As I made my way up to the entrance I was met by a group of kids that looked to be in high school. As I walked past them they suddenly grew quiet and stepped a little back from where I was walking with big eyes. I don't know why but I have that effect on people lately.

I stuck my hands into the pockets of my leather jacket and I walked right up the front steps to enter the building.

Six years have passed since I physically stepped inside of this building, but it didn't seem that much changed since I was gone. I walked over to the main desk and gave the nurse behind the counter a smile, "Good Morning. I'm looking for Mrs. McCall," I told her.

She opened her mouth to reply but I saw my mother step out from behind the nurse with a surprised look on her face.

"Emery?" she asked, surprised, as I can see her eyes starting to tear up.

I gave my mother a big grin and walked around the counter pulling her into a big hug. "Hi, Mama!" I said hugging her tighter.

"Honey, what are you doing here?" my mom said as she pulled away from me.

I gave my mother a reassuring smile as I started explaining, "Well I can't keep running away from everyone and everything forever."

"Sweetheart, I know it's hard after what happened," My mother said as she started to rub my arms in comfort, "But I'm just glad my baby girl is back."

A shudder ran down my back as my thoughts wandered back to the event that happened six years ago. I frowned and looked at my boots before looking back at my mother giving her a small nod in return.

I shook my head to clear my thoughts of that night, clearing my throat, I looked back at my mother giving her my signature smile, "So how's my baby brother doing?" I said trying to change the subject quickly.

My mother let out a small chuckle and shook her head at me. "You haven't changed one bit. Your brother is just like you when you were his age. Up to no good," my mother informed me.

I laughed with a shrug off my shoulders, "That sounds about right"

My mother laughed as she looked at me, "Why, don't you go home and settle in you must be tired after the long drive. And then tonight when I get home after my shift we can catch up," my mother told me. I gave her a smile pulling her into a hug once again.
