Her Burden | Derek Hale

━ fourteen | a night gone wrong

So a lot has happened since that night at the Sheriff Station. When I got home that very night I got a phone call from the Sheriff department telling me they found Matt's body in a lake near the department.

When I got to the crime scene at about four in the morning they declared Matt's death a drowning at about just before five.

Both Mr Stilinski and I also needed to give a statement about what happened and to state that Matt was the killer of all those people that were murdered.

I think the only good thing about the night was that Mr Stilinski got his badge back which declared him Sheriff of Beacon Hills again.

But that was about it. Let's just say that morning and the days after that hasn't been a walk in the park. Turns out Allison found out Derek bit her mother and she was there that night to kill him.

Then there was that I haven't spoken to Derek or Scott since and that my mother hasn't spoken to either my brother or me since she found out everything.

The reason why I haven't spoken to Scott was that I didn't know what to say to him. He went behind my back and worked with Gerard. How could he betray me like that.

I wanted to just leave it and not speak to him at all but I knew I couldn't ignore him forever so I confronted him.

"Mom. Mom," Scott said as he knocked on our mother's bedroom door, "We're gonna have to talk about this eventually."

Scott sighed when he got no reply, "Okay. I'm going. I love you."

I walked out from my room as I looked at my brother with a glare as he walked towards me. He looked at me in confusion when he saw my face, "What?" He asked as he stopped in front of me.

"In. My. Room. Now!" I pressed out, turned around walking back into my room.

"Emery, I need to get to work," Scott said as he walked in behind me, "What's going on?"

"I can't believe you." I spat at him, turning around to look at him with hard eyes.

"What are you talking about," Scott asked, confused.

"You betrayed Derek," I shouted

"You betrayed ME." I said with hard eyes, "I heard everything at the station, Scott."

"How can you work with Gerard? How can you not tell me this?" I asked him as I slowly walked over to him with a dangerous look on my face.

"You mean like you told me that Derek and you had a past," Scott spat back at me, "Not to mention that you were in a relationship with him. Or is that still in a relationship with him?"

I suddenly felt a little guilty when those words left Scott's mouth. I knew I had to tell him eventually but I didn't know how as everyone knows how Scott's and Derek's relationship was.

I was caught off guard when Matt let out the secret and that blew everything up. I saw Scott looking at me waiting for me to reply and I had to cover up how I really felt.

I let out a laugh as I stopped in front of my brother, "You see Scott the difference with my secret and yours is that mine won't get someone killed."

Scott's eyes softened as he heard my words, "I know and I'm sorry but Emery, you just need to trust me on this one," Scott pleaded, "I know it doesn't look good but I have always done everything to protect you and mom."

"Scott, it's not your job to protect us," I told him as I calmed myself down a little.

"I know that but trust that there is always a reason for everything I do," He stated, "So I ask you to trust me on this."
