I was standing in my room as I continued to put everything I needed for the trip in my duffel bags. I looked around my room a sigh leaving my lips. Two weeks from now I'm off to study Law Enforcement with my best friend Hayley and after this trip, it's going to be nothing but just work for us.

That's why we decided to plan the trip together so that we can have a little fun before we go off to start college.

I walked over to my cupboard looking at all the photo frames that were standing on it. A smile made its way across my face as I stared at them. Most were of Hayley and me, but then there were the others that were of my family.

I frowned as I picked one of them up, looking it over. It was a photo of my family. My father stood behind my mother holding her tight as they laughed and me holding little Scott in my arms as we looked at our parents with smiles on our faces. But that was back then. Before everything happened. Before my father started drinking and before he and my mother got divorced.

I slowly grabbed all my pictures that were on my cupboard, before walking over to my duffel bags, putting the picture in one of them and zipping it up.

"Hey, Honey," my mother said, as she knocked on my door and entered my room.

"Hi, mama," I said as I took a seat on my bed.

"Are you done packing?" She questioned, but I could hear the sadness in her voice.

I have been under my mother's roof for eighteen years now, so I know it's not easy for her to let me go and after all like she always says. "No matter how old you get you will always be my baby girl."

"Mom, please don't start crying again," I said softly.

"Okay, okay, I'll try," She said waving her hand across her face like she was trying to stop herself from crying again before giving me a small laugh, "You know I'm so proud of you. You're off to study law enforcement. You're growing up."

"Thanks, mom that means a lot."

"Emery, Hayley is here," Scott said as he ran into my bedroom.

"Okay, we'll help you carry your stuff to the car. Come on Scott," my mother said as she picked up one of the duffel bags, with Scott grabbing the other one.

I quickly grabbed my handbag, looking around towards my room one last time, before making my way out of my room, shutting the door behind me.

I made my way downstairs walking out of the front door, only to see Hayley standing in the driveway with her white Honda Pilot. I walked over to her and as she saw me a shriek of joy left her lips as she ran over to me.

"Are you ready for the best trip of your life?" She sings out as she pulls me into an embrace.

"You know it," I laugh, letting her go.

She walked over to her car opening the door shouting, "Bye, Mrs McCall, bye Scotty. Love you guys!" as she climbed into the car and shut the door behind her.

I laughed at her once again and made my way over to where my mother and little brother were standing, mom having tears in her eyes once again.

"I'm going to miss you guys," I said, pulling them both into a hug.

"And we're going to miss you," they said at the same time.

I kissed Scott on the forehead whispering to him that he should be a good boy to mom and then turned to my mother kissing her on the cheek. I let go of them both and started to make my way over to the car and get inside.

I looked at my family one last time, then turned my gaze to Hayley, who was already looking at me with a grin on her lips as she spoke up.

"Mexico here we come."
