I Never Knew

Chapter 8

I was woken up by the sound of birds loudly chirping and the sun shining through. I realized my window and glass door didn't have curtains which is why it's so bright.

I got out of bed and headed into the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and got in the shower. I wrapped my rob around me and left the bathroom. I walked to the glass doors and opened them.

It was a nice day the weather was nice, warm and sunny. So I grabbed some jean shorts and a plain black t-shirt and changed. I put on my black army boots as well. I brushed my hair and left it to air dry since I'm sure I won't be doing anything today. Except meet the Alpha.

I went into the kitchen were dad was drinking coffee and reading the newspaper.

"Where's Evan?" I asked walking towards the fridge

"Good morning to you too" he said taking a sip of his coffee

"Sorry. Morning" I answered. I wasn't used to anyone being home in the mornings since mom was always at work by the time I got up.

"He went out" he answered. I nodded. I grabbed the milk from the fridge and poured some into a cup.

"There's some muffins in the microwave" dad said pointing to it.

I opened the microwave and grabbed a muffin. Poppyseed my favorite. I went and sat by dad at the table.

"So" I began "what am I doing today?" I asked

He arched a brow at me "you can go around, get familiar with the town" he suggested

I sighed "I suppose" I finished eating, put the cup in the sink and walked to my room. I grabbed my bag and threw it over my shoulder as I walked out of my room.

I was walking towards the door when dad said "Alpha Peter is going to be here tonight" dad reminded me

"What time?" I asked

"Six"

"Okay" I said and walked out.

I started walking and once I was out of the drive way and on the main street I saw what I guess was the town. I walked not stoping anywhere just getting to know the area. There was houses around but not many and they weren't close to each other. I walked until I got to what I'm guessing was like downtown. This is where the only restaurants, stores, grocery stores, library, pretty much everything this little town had was here.

What I didn't see though was the school, so I kept walking until made a few turns left, then left again then right until I finally came across a building of red bricks, which was the school. I knew it was the school only because it was bigger than the other buildings but still not that big. okay mainly because there was a sign that read 'silver cliff high school'

I sighed then turned and headed for home. I didn't take the same route though I walked straight a few streets then took a left and continued walking. I walked for a few minutes until the street home came into view.

I'm thinking this will be the route I take to school so there won't be many people around.

I got home it was only around 3pm. I checked around the house, no one was home. I decided to look around closets for some curtains. Fortunately I did find some. I plugged my iPod into the speaker and blasted the music while I hung the curtains on the window and door.

The curtains didn't darken the room much but they would do for now. My favorite song 'crazy' by Gnarls Barkley was playing and I began singing along and eventually dancing.

I heard some laughter behind me, I turned to find Evan with his arms crossed against his chest leaning in the door frame with an amused face laughing at me.

I raised an eyebrow "what" I asked turning down my music. "Can't I have privacy?" I said crossing my arms.

He acted like he was thinking about it "nope" he finally answered with chuckle

He laughed one last time before turning around and leaving. I shrugged not caring and continued singing and dancing.

Finally I was too tired to continue dancing and singing so I threw myself on my bed.

Next thing I know I'm being yelled at by Evan to wake up. It took me a few seconds before fully waking up. I walked into the living room to find my dad, Evan and another man sitting in the living room. Dad stopped talking once I walked in.

He smiled and walked over by me "Alpha Peter, this is my daughter Camila Marie Anderson" dad said my full name with so much pride I wanted to roll my eyes but didn't.

"Nice to meet you Camila" Alpha Peter said extending his hand to shake mine. I took his hand and have him a firm handshake.

He held my hand and looked at me as if he was trying to read me. He finally let go "how old are , Camila?" He asked

"16" I answered with confidence

He nodded. "She hasn't shifted." Dad spoke suddenly "we're not sure if she will yet"

"Well she's only 16. She has time" Alpha Peter said smiling.

We all sat in the living room while Alpha Peter explained everything to me, sometimes dad or Evan would but in and say something but it was mostly Alpha. He explained the pack, how it worked, why there was one, who was in it etc. He also told me I would have to be 'accepted' into the pack by him in a ceremony, which would he would let us know when it would be.

"You know" Alpha Peter spoke "there's something about you Camila, I'm just not sure what it is"

I raised my eyebrow "really" I said it slowly nodding at the same time.

He turned to look at dad "I like her" he said with a chuckle. Dad smiled "maybe it's because she was just thrown into all of this and doesn't quite understand everything yet, but she doesn't seem to fear me or act like everybody else in the pack when they're around me"

We were silent for a few seconds until I spoke "and how am I suppose to act?"

He smiled "the way your are is perfectly fine he admitted. I spotted Evan arching a brow in surprise through the corner I my eye.

He raised his hand and looked at his watch "I should get going" he began standing up "it was very nice to meet you Camila" he said reaching for my hand again, I shine firmly once more.

Dad walked Alpha Peter to the for while taking to each other. "I will be in touch on when we can do the ceremony, Ryker should be back soon and I would like for him to be there"

"Of course" dad answered shaking his hand. Alpha Peter left and dad walked back to us.

"Well that went well" Evan said. I sarcasm screaming out through his words.

Dad caught that too "actually, I think it did" dad smiled turning to look at me. "You should get to bed, your first day of school is tomorrow"

I arched a brow "it's 8 dad"

"So get you things ready then" I didn't move "now Camila"

"Ugh!" I yelled and stomped towards my room slamming the door behind me. "I don't even have school materials!" I yelled to no one. A few seconds later my door burst open and in walked Evan.

He threw a plastic Walgreens bag on my bed "I bought you some things" he said and walked out.

I walked towards the bag and opened it. There were a few notebooks and folders, some pens and pencils. I grabbed my backpack from my closet and put the materials in it.

I showered, brushed my teeth, and set my alarm to 6am. I threw myself in my bed and before I knew it I was out cold
