Ch 31 Autumn Evans

We both woke up with a knock on the door. The nurse was here to change Scar's dressing. The girl looked young, somewhere near our age. Maybe only a few years older. She had been taking care of Scar since we got here. I even saw her with a few children earlier, cleaning their wounds.

"By when will she be good to go?" I asked the girl as she removed the bandaids from Scar's hands. "She should be good to leave tomorrow. She will need to rest though, she had worn herself out completely" She said with a soft smile. 

"Talk some sense into her please, she always does this," I said dramatically. We both laughed as Scar gaped at us with her mouth open.

"Is it your friend? Who is getting operated  for the lung injury?" She asked as she slowly applied medicine to Scar's knuckles.

"Yeah. He is" Scar said in a low tone. "I am assigned to see on him post-surgery," She said and continued "He will get well soon. You don't have to worry about it,". I could see Scar's face lighten up at that.

"Sorry, we didn't ask earlier, but what's your name?" I asked. "I am Autumn, Autumn Evans," She said with a warm smile.

"That's a really pretty name, I am Scarlett but you can call me Scar and this is Jack" Scar smiled back at her. Was Scar trying to make friends? I would like her to have more friends.

"So Scar, how did you end up so worn out?" Autumn asked. "She went on punching everyone," I said chuckling. Autumn's eyes went wide and she looked at Scar shocked.

"Oh shut up, don't listen to him.  I am a fighter. This is the aftermath after a big match," Scar said and the girl visibly relaxed. 

"I will come and give your meds later. You take rest now" She said and began walking towards the door. "Hey Autumn, could you inform us when our friend is out of surgery," I asked and she nodded and left the room.

"Why are you smiling?" Scar asked as I sat beside her. "Was my lioness trying to make a friend?" I asked in a teasing manner. 

"Was it so obvious?" She asked wide-eyed. "Probably not to her, but to me, yes it was pretty obvious baby" I chuckled.

"I felt this warm vibe as she entered the room. She seems good" Scar said and I nodded. She did seem nice and kind. 

"We will be around here for at least a week or two right, so I thought I could make myself a friend," She shrugged. "Good for you. Did you get the same thought as me?" I asked smirking.

"Yeah. She would be great with Ace" She said smiling widely. I thought about it when she said she would look after him. If she is as good as she seems, maybe we could get Ace someone who would take care of him.

"He would be unconscious for a while. Maybe till tomorrow." The doctor said to us. We were called into his office after the surgery.

"Then we will look upon him, I have personally assigned one of our best junior doctors to look after Mr.Lenon. She will be here most of the time, and in her absence, there will be an equally good doc assigned." The doctor said smiling.

"He should be good to leave in 3 weeks. And no fighting for at least 6 months" He said. "Thank you doc." We said and left his room.

"Mike will be here in a while, then you can go home and freshen up," Scar told me. "You will come with me lady, I ain't leaving you alone anywhere," I said as she rolled her eyes. 

"Okay fine, let's go see him," She said pulling me towards Ace's room.

The only sound in the room was of the machine's beeping. Scar had a tight grip on my hand, so I rubbed it to relax her.

Ace was in the hospital gown, unconscious. I looked at Scar who had a frown on her face. It was probably very hard for her to see him like this. I pulled her towards me and caressed her head.

"He will be up and about before we know it," I said soothing her. 

We heard the door open and saw Autumn with a tray filled with medicines and injections. She saw us and smiled softly at us.

"Good that I found you, I placed your beds in your bed, I need you to take them now," She said to Scar, placing the tray on the table beside Ace. 

"And there is also a guy with five coffee cups out there looking for you. He refused when I offered to help" She said looking at me. That must be Mike. 

"We will come back later, you be with him," I said smiling widely and felt Scar elbow me on my ribs. "We will be back Autumn, See ya," Scar said and hurried out.  

"What was that for?" I asked as we left the room. "What are you trying to scare her away you idiot? You can't set them up like that. We don't even know if she is single" She said glaring.

She did have a point. We knew nothing. "We should probably wait till we know about her," I said and she nodded.

We went home after Autumn told me that it was okay for Scar to go home. Mum and Mike were with Ace who was still not awake. 

"Hey, by the way, school is about to start in a few days," I say. We have been having winter break the past weeks and it was good cause we didn't need to worry about school with all the other things going. Our semester was almost over and we would graduate this year. 

"Yeah, I know. We will see how to manage that" Scar said in a monotone. Something was wrong.

"What's wrong?"I asked concerned. " I don't wanna go to school," She said pouting. "We only have to go for a month or so, it would be over before we know it, babe," I said as I sat on her bed. 

"I know. It's just after I punched Venessa, my cover kind of blew and now almost everyone knows I fight" she said falling on the bed.

"And why is that a problem?" I asked. I don't see why that was a problem, no one would insult her cause they know who they were against.

"I am already a major outcast Jack, and now I would have to hear many more about what a freak I am," She said. 

"I promise you will have the best time of your life at school, just come with me," I said cupping her face in my hands. I won't let her feel bad about anything. 

"Fine," she said after a while. I had planned a lot once we get back to school. Prom was in a month and I planned on asking her for that. And I am sure she would love it. And I wanted us to graduate together.

"Jack" she mumbled slowly. "Yes Lioness" I hummed back.

"I love you," She said wrapping her arms around me. "I love you too baby. I have since before I saw you" I said. Thinking back, it was kind of true, I was kind of too much interested when I heard about her.
