Scorpius

I leave the crowded, glowing Common Room and immediately regret so. The cold air in the dungeons blows in my face and makes me shiver, whereas the warmth of the Slytherin Common Room seems very welcome to me now. I decide to go to the Great Hall for dinner and walk past a broken mirror on the ground. I pick it up and ruffle my hair so that it looks perfectly messy and smirk at my reflection.

I don’t do that so there will be other girls waiting for me, begging on their knees to become my girlfriend, no, I just know Lily loves my messier hair. I mean, who doesn’t, huh?

I ascend the marble stairs, the echoes of my footsteps following me as I get out of the dungeons. Suddenly something casts a shadow on the ground before my feet and without even thinking about it I decide to use another shortcut to get to the Great Hall. “Peeves,” I mutter as I sneak behind a tapestry showing some dancing witches and wizards.

As soon as I enter the Great Hall, my eyes scan the Ravenclaw table and land on Lily’s flaming hair. I smile and walk past her while making my way to the Slytherin table.

“Love you,” I whisper before quickly pecking her cheek and acting as if nothing happened as I continue my way. Unfortunately, I am being followed by whistles and cat calls. I roll my eyes and sit down next to Embra and Blake, who look at me in amusement.

“What?” I ask, grinning.

“Our Scorpius is becoming a true gentleman,” Embra grins, patting my shoulder.

“I’d never have expected that…” Blake says “Or maybe I had… anyway, she’s cute, dude.”

“I know,” I say, staring at my golden plate, reflecting the enchanted ceiling above us.

“And you’re extremely lucky,” he continues. “Really lucky…”

“Anyway, treat her right, Scorpius,” Embra says seriously. “Because she deserves it.”

“Wow, guys, why all the interest in her all of a sudden?”

They shrug simultaneously and then laugh.

“I don’t know man,” Blake says and with that the conversation has ended.

I want to turn around and try to catch a glimpse of Lily, but before I can do so the clear sound of a silver spoon carefully hitting a glass goblet rings through the Great Hall and everyone – including me – turns around to face the Headmistresses speech.

“Dear students of Hogwarts!” McGonagall starts “Before we will be having dinner I have a very special announcement to make. This morning the participants of the Supera Itinera have received their letters, and to my great delight I can announce that Ryan O’Donnell from Gryffindor-“ a loud cheering erupted from the Gryffindors’ table “-Anna Hipplecrow from Hufflepuff-“ more cheering “-Scorpius Malfoy from Slytherin-“ a loud mass of congratulations and Slytherin pride erupted around me “-and, last but not least, Lily Potter from Ravenclaw-“ surprised but nevertheless loud cheering “will be representing Hogwarts in the competition! If the Participants could get up so we can applaud them once more…?”
