"Stoick – he's there – he's fighting! To save dragons!" Astrid said, feeling slightly disorientated. "I know you persuaded him to start a partnership between Berkians and dragons, but he's never gone out of his way to fight for them before."

Hiccup sighed, knowing what he had to do. "Astrid, I-"

He cut himself off, looking between his father, and the dragons. Should he really do what he's thinking? Is it right to put someone's life above another's like this?

He felt a warm presence, touching his arm. Astrid's hand. As soon as he looked at her, he sensed all his anxiety melt away.

"Go." She said.

He immediately flew for his father's ship. As they circled the top, Hiccup scouted who he had to save and who he had to fight, while putting on his black helmet. He didn't want to be recognised.

Toothless now had his own tailfin and could move around on his own, so Hiccup left him high in the air, grabbing his dragon wing invention and attaching it to his back.

He took a deep breath...

And jumped off Toothless' back to the mess below.

---------------

Stoick was getting tired.

He'd been fighting the same four men for the last few minutes, and he anticipated an attack from behind him. Five men.

If this was the Stoick from a few years ago, he could take them easy. But the combined toll of age, sadness of Hiccup disappearing and the many, many wounds inflicted on him by men just like these, has left his body in a poor state.

His sword clashed against two opponents out of the four. He could sense the fifth sneaking behind him, but the other two men were blocking him from the sides, weapons drawn.

He could do nothing to avoid them.

He braced himself.

CLASH!

"What in the name of..." He glanced upwards. "Thor...!"

An unknown masked man - Hiccup - had stepped in and saved his life. Stoick fell to one knee.

"Thank you, kind stranger. I am forever in your de-"

"Not the time!" Hiccup shouted back, jumping once again in Stoick's path, using his fire-welding sword to defend another attack. Stoick jumped back up and began to fight alongside Hiccup.

Together, clashes and clangs filled the air. After several crucial minutes, the battlefield rang silent...

... and the two Berkians stood on top.

Hiccup took a second to appreciate and take in the moment, him standing side by side with his father - Stoick fully acknowledging and admiring his skill.

He sighed.

He might as well enjoy it while it lasts.

Hiccup turned to his father, and helped him up.

"Thanks for saving my life." Stoick said, accepting the help. He took in his saviour's small stature, and petit head.

"... How old are you?" He asked.

Hiccup took a deep breath, concerned about Stoick realising his saviour and Hiccup are one and the same, but decided to be honest. "Nineteen."

Stoick sharply inhaled. "That's incredibly young!"

"I... started training early." Hiccup said, creating an excuse.

"What should I call you?"

"Why should it matter?"

"Well, I-"

A cry emerged from a few ships over.

"HELP!"

"Crap!" Hiccup shouted, recognising the shout as Astrid's voice. He immediately sprung into action, and climbed to the highest point of the ship, before spreading his wings, and gliding to Astrid's ship.

"Go and help that boy!" Stoick called to the men remaining on this ship. As the men ran to help him, Stoick thought about who he was, and what his name is.

"I wish you the best, young Birger."

Hi! So... you might've wondered where I've been.

I had spent almost a year writing For the Glory and I just needed a break from the How to Train Your Dragon series - it made me not enjoy the series because there was so much more I wanted to do and write.

So I took a small break and wrote a story based in the world of Miraculous Ladybug. I have now finished that series and am back - revitalised - and I can't wait to continue writing 😊

But for now...

Peachy out! 😊
