Toothless burst from below deck and flew into the air. His only thought was to get to Astrid. The sooner he finds her, the sooner Hiccup will be safe. A massive BOOM erupted from behind him as he flew, going so quickly he was unable to hear it (although all the Berkians behind him could) and his eyes zoomed faster than they ever had before, easily pinpointing Astrid out from the masses of Vikings, Stormfly out of sight.

He flew over and growled at her, eyes wide and desperate. Her head turned, and she could sense that something was wrong - or someone was in danger. She jumped up, kicking a Viking in the face, used that as a spring board to jump up higher, and landed softly on Toothless' back. Toothless zoomed upright in the air, and for a few seconds they observed their situation.

Astrid spotted Hiccup's helmet floating gently in the water nearby the ship they parted ways at - the ship which is most likely where Hiccup is.

"Did he chuck it out a window by accident... or as a signal for help?" Astrid muttered to herself, already sensing the answer.

She glanced towards the other ship, the one with dragons that Astrid had yet to save. The Vikings slowly got up and went back to their positions above and below deck. She knew that if Hiccup had a say, he would tell her to save those dragons. If Toothless had a say, he'd tell her to save Hiccup. But she needs to be logical. Surely there's a way to save both?

From the distance she spotted Stoick's ship, still sailing away.

"Oh Hiccup..." She muttered. "I know you won't like this, but... I have no choice."

With a heavy heart, she called for Stormfly - who appeared from behind some heavy clouds (apparently planning a surprise attack on the Vikings before Toothless showed up) and wrote a quick note. She attached the note to Hiccup's helmet, and sent Stormfly on her way, toward Stoick's ship.

She took a deep breath - in and out.

"Okay Toothless, let's go help Hiccup."

---Elsewhere---

Stoick gripped the wheel of his ship, ordering his Vikings to specific stations on his ship. He turned back to face the abandoned ships, where he'd last seen Birger. Something... was wrong. Even more than that ominous feeling, he also felt some... connection with Birger, aside from having his life saved and owing him a lifelong debt.

He sighed and tried to shake it off. From what he's seen of Birger, he's incredibly capable and can handle himself. If he hadn't seemed so stubborn - like him - then he would've asked Birger if he'd have liked to go to Berk with them. Talents like his would be extremely useful.

A flash of blue and a sharp THUD quickly caught Stoick's attention. He turned around and saw a Deadly Nadder flying away back to the ships. The dragon seemed familiar, but Stoick again brushed off the feeling, instead focusing on finding the cause of the noise. He eventually found Birger's helmet near the entrance to underneath the deck. When he picked it up, a small note fell out.

Dear Stoick,

The man who helped you earlier today is in trouble.

I need you to save the dragons on the last ship in this lineup, while I rescue him - I'm certain that whichever I didn't prioritise would not end up being saved, if I don't ask for your help.

Once he is safe, we will join you in rescuing the dragons - however if you finish before we meet you, please leave and do not try and help us.

Thank you,

-A

Stoick clutched the note tightly in his hand.

"Everyone - turn this ship around!"

Hey, a new update! Yay!! Sorry, but I'm not going to promise anything this time, besides that I will continue the story until completion. I don't know how long it will take, aside from the fact that now I have a plan for the story instead of winging it like I normally do, which will hopefully make writing easier and faster - no promises though!

Hopefully, I'll see you guys again soon!

But for now...

Peachy out! 😊
