My heart was thumping against my chest in rapid beats. Per Chief Gu's recommendation, Seokjin and I were going to go investigate Jisol's crime scene and talk with her brother.

All day that incessant voice has been blabbering in my head a mix of apologies, sorrowful soliloquies, and some other weird things.

It was giving me a massive, unbearable migraine, but I tried to ignore it and not let the sheer agony show.

We pulled up to a lavish looking mansion, checking in with the guards and doing the usual pat-down protocol.

The house felt strangely familiar to me. It was like deja vu, except I've honestly never been here before.

Seokjin seeming to notice my hesitation, stared at me with a comforting glance, "Everything okay, angel?"

I took a deep breath, "Yeah, it's just kind of surreal."

However, the voice inside of me had some other opinions.

"Wait I can't do this. Please don't make me go back Cheonsa. If I see him I might break. I shouldn't be here. You shouldn't either. Mom, oh god I left her. I actually can't do this, Cheonsa please!"

I winced at the tiny voice's words, a wave of emotion rushing over me, but I tried to shake it off and approached the front door with Seokjin.

With a tentative knock, our Jisol investigation began.

The door was opened by a guy who looked to be about Seokjin's age.

"No."

I felt my heart start to race and I swear I thought I was going to start crying. This guy felt so familiar. I had an urge to reach out and hug him and cry and apologize. That gaping hole in my memories felt like it was screaming to remember.

"Detective Kim! What a surprise," he said.

"Hey Jibeom, long time no see," Seokjin smiled.

His voice felt like home. There was this utterly familiar feeling from his voice. A brotherly feeling.

His gaze turned to me and recognition and surprise was ridden across his face.

"Wow, Detective Kim, your partner gave me quite the scare. I thought Jisol rose from the dead," he joked, but there was an obvious hint of sadness and disappointment in his voice.

"Cheonsa please stop. I told you I'd help you out but this is too much. You're going to kill the both of us again."

We stepped inside the mansion, immediately met with several vintage artifacts that were worth more than my entire net worth.

My body felt stiff as I observed the house. Part of me wanted to collapse and break down into tears and the other part of me wanted to run away.

Each step felt so unbelievably familiar, I might've thought that I lived here at one point.

I touched each wall in bewilderment, feeling like I was in a completely other universe.

But I was pulled from my mesmerization when a tiny voice came from down the hall and barreling straight towards me.

"OH MY GOD IT'S AUNTY JISOL!"

A small boy ran into me and hugged my legs tightly.

Jibeom sighed, "San, don't trouble the detective."

I felt a very warm feeling in my heart.

"I'm glad he was able to get a kid at least."

"But daddy, this is aunty Jisol! I'm telling you!" The child protested.
