The next day, Jeongguk woke up rather easily. His alarm clock only rang once, and he was already up on his feet. Although it took him quite a while to get ready with one hand, he was able to finish getting ready proudly.

"Good morning," he said as he entered the kitchen.

Mirae gaped at him with raised eyebrows as he made his way towards the table to take his snacks and coffee as usual.

Her silence baffled Jeongguk, and he twisted his head to inspect her. "What?"

"Am I seeing things or did you just say good morning with a smile?"

He chuckled and shook his head. "What's so wrong about that?"

"You even laughed? Okay, something is definitely wrong with you!" she said, completely surprised by his behavior. "What happened?"

"Nothing happened." He shrugged. "I guess I slept well last night."

"You stayed up until late last night as always, Kook."

"No, I was in my bed at eleven or something, and I fell asleep after an hour."

"After an hour? Really?" she scoffed.

"Okay, after two hours."

Mirae gave him another knowing look.

"Fine, I slept only for five hours, but it was a good, deep sleep, okay?" He rolled his eyes, eliciting a fond chuckle from his mother.

"Why are you so cheerful then? With a sprained wrist, I expected you to be grumpy as hell about going to school."

"I don't know, leave me alone," Jeongguk mumbled as he finally picked up his backpack.

"Okay, I'll wait until you're ready to tell me." She smiled warmly and gave him a kiss on his forehead.

"Whatever." He returned the smile. "Bye."

"No, wait. I'll drive you to school."

"But you're gonna be late."

"I've already called work and told them that as long as my son has a splint on his wrist, I'll be driving him to school so don't worry about me being late. They were understanding."

"You're the best. Thank you, mom." Jeongguk wrapped his arm around her and patted her shoulder.

"I know, right?" she teased, beaming. "Come on, let's go."

They arrived soon enough, and Jeongguk couldn't be happier since he didn't have to deal with the obnoxious people he encountered on the bus every day. Once he said goodbye to his mother and shut the door, Mirae drove away as he headed inside. This day started pretty well, and he hoped it would end that way too.

"Good morning, my friends," Jeongguk said with a perky voice and a smile that left his friends and his other classmates looking at him shocked.

"Did you just smile? And sounded, you know, happy and stuff?" Yoongi asked, brows still curved upwards in amazement.

"I guess I'm having a good day. My mom drove me here and that was reason enough to make my day."

"It's good seeing you smile like that," Seokjin said with a broad smile as he ruffled his hair.

"How are you gonna entertain yourself in classes now that you can't draw?" Namjoon asked.

"Well, I have no idea. I guess I'll just sleep the entire time. Or I can learn how to draw with my left hand." His impish words and tone drew light chuckles out of them.

"Well, we shouldn't be laughing that much. Given that it's you we're talking about, I believe you're more than capable of pulling it off," Namjoon commented, and the others nodded.
