Jeongguk went home late that night. After his talk with Namjoon, he said he needed a drink so they went to a nearby bar they often went to and didn't have to worry about telling them that they didn't serve alcohol to minors. The guy who was working there was understanding and allowed them to drink some beers, but of course, he always kept an eye on them. After that, he took the last bus and arrived home around one. He dropped his body into the bed and didn't even realize when he drifted off to sleep.
But the next morning, he didn't hear his alarm because he hadn't set any. He completely forgot about it and Mirae couldn't wake him since she had to leave early for work.
Taehyung stopped by his house to give him a ride to school, even though Jeongguk didn't call him nor texted him at all last night. He still wanted to see him and give him a ride. He rang the doorbell since it was kind of late and the younger hadn't come out yet, but he didn't get an answer. So he took out his phone and called him.
"Mmm?"
"Jeongguk? Don't tell me you're still sleeping."
His eyes split open at the words he strove to process, a sleepy frown of utter confusion adorning his face. But the confusion soon altered to panic upon glancing at the time. "Fuck!"
"I'll wait for you," Taehyung muttered with a sigh.
"You're gonna be late. Just, um, just go to school. I won't be on time for the first class, anyway."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, don't worry."
"Okay, we'll talk later."
. . .
This is not a good day. Jeongguk entered through the school gates and scuttled to his class with Taehyung, which would start in two minutes.
"Where were you?" Jimin asked.
"Um, I fell asleep."
"Namjoon said you guys had a good time yesterday," Seokjin commented.
"Yeah, it was nice."
"So are you gonna talk to us about whatever you guys talked about or what?" Yoongi asked.
"Well, not here."
"Tonight then?" Namjoon suggested, smiling.
"Good morning, class," Taehyung greeted as he walked into the classroom.
Jeongguk twisted his head to glimpse at him. "Maybe tomorrow. I have something to talk about with someone else first." A delicate smile made its way to his lips as he gazed at the older. He found it extremely hard to take his eyes off him at times.
Jeongguk anxiously waited for Taehyung to appear after their classes. He had a little trouble finding his car because he had parked a little further away from school, probably because he wanted to avoid sudden encounters with other teachers and students.
The suffocating tension pressing down on his heart amplified when he spotted Taehyung shuffling towards him. "Hey." Jeongguk smiled in an attempt to secrete his awkwardness.
"Hi."
Sadness crossed his face at his blunt greeting. He would usually smile at him and initiate some small talk, but he did neither. He chewed on his lower lip to literally bite back his pout and slid into the car. "Are you okay?"
"Not really."
Jeongguk didn't say anything else for the rest of the ride. He laid his hand on his nape and kept it there, caressing his soft skin until they reached their destination.
