Cassie POV
I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock screaming in my ears.
Groaning, I put my head under the covers hoping to block out the sound. I was not in the mood to wake up. Reaching my hand out from underneath the covers, I felt around for my alarm clock and frowned, it wasn't at my bed side table.
Squinting, I wait for my eyes to adjust to the sunlight before spotting it in the corner opposite my bed.
Why did I think it was a good idea to put my alarm clock on full volume and sit it in the corner furthest from me?
Oh right. Because I didn't want to be late for the first day going to my new school.
I could feel butterflies trapeze through my stomach at the thought of school. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. It was going to be the first day and I was desperate to create good first impressions.
The feeling of sleepiness suddenly drained away as I quickly hopped out of bed to get changed into something suitable for a first day.
Sifting through my wardrobe, I finally decided to go with a simple tie-dye shirt and a pair of light blue jeans. I didn't want to look too flashy first day in.
Since moving here, I've decided that my goal for this new school was to avoid attention and keep a low profile. I figured that I would like my last year at high school to be as calm and drama free as possible, and I was determined to make that happen.
After washing my face and doing my hair into a neat side braid, I quickly headed to the kitchen to grab some breakfast.
"Morning Cassie." My mum said smiling at me while making her cup of morning coffee, "Dad's already left for work and we'll leave for school in ten minutes."
I nod before going over to make myself a bowl of cereal.
Today was my turn for a new start. I couldn't wait.

"Have a wonderful day Cassie." My mum said smiling at me as the car stopped near the entrance of the school.
Smiling back nervously, I leaned in to give her a small peck before exiting the car. Waving back, I watched her car drive away into the distance.
Taking a deep breath, I turned around to get good look at the entrance before hesitantly taking a step into the building.
Despite my efforts to arrive super early to school hoping to avoid the crowd, the place was already buzzing with life.
Looking around I could see students everywhere. Some huddled in their preformed groups chatting away, and others rummaging through their lockers.
That reminded me, I needed to find mine before first period starts.I felt around in my bag for the piece of paper that had my schedule and other bits and pieces about the school.
Taking it out, my eyes skim over the subjects, and various classrooms highlighted on the map before spotting my locker number neatly printed on the bottom right of the paper.
Number 427.
Right, now time for my big search.
Looking around, I saw a locker with the number 326. Figuring that that would be a great start to begin looking, I followed the trail of lockers along it.
Reaching an intersection to two corridors, I frowned looking down at the map. What now?
Deciding to take the right turn I glanced up once again to examine the locker numbers.
