AN: the number of days to the wedding was changed during editing it is 4 days not 2 days. You may proceed.
Bibi's POV.
Abuja Nigeria.
I spent the next day putting on fake smiles for distant family members and lying about how the two of us fell in love. Fayha suggested saying it was love at first sight from his end just to get him back for everything he's done. And why not?
I was able to convince some of the aunties that there was no need for a beautician because if I'm being real, he doesn't like me and cannot stand the sight of me so beautifying myself is a waste of time and just torture if you ask me.
After taking my bath this morning fayha came over as early as she could and we spent the whole morning watching movies and snacking on the snacks she brought with her. "After the wedding we're going to explore the whole of Abuja, I'm sure you know a few places." She says as we eat lunch
"Yeah Insha'Allah, but Leena knows more places than I do so you'll have to beg her I'm just going to tag along." I reply gulping down half the cup of chilled zobo that was beside me.
"I want to explore as much as I can before school resumes and we have to go back. You're so lucky your graduation is in a months time." She pouts and I giggle. "You'll have just nine months to countdown to yours after you resume insha'Allah it will be over before you know it." I say
"Don't try to flatter me because it's not working. I'm going to miss you all though I can't believe once you're done with school you'll all be back here permanently and it will just be me visiting until I'm done with school." She sighs and both our eyes begin to tear.
As we look at each other and realize we're both about to cry we burst into a fit of giggles hitting each other on the thigh. "Wallahi, I swear we're not serious at all." I manage to say in between laughs.
After lunch we went back up to the room we were given to rest before it was time for the walima that was fixed for this evening. Which they actually forced us to agree to, it will begin after Asr so we decided to go easy on ourselves and ended up falling asleep.
I woke up an hour later and took my time getting ready as I'll only be wearing the dress Mama and Aunty Maimuna gave to me this morning, Aunty Maimuna's sister Aunty Ramla was the one going to do my makeup. She has her own makeup company.
I put on the dress with Ummi's help. She's a cousin of fayha's and Aunty Ramla's second daughter. Aunty Ramla finished my makeup and tied the scarf for me. It was a very light makeup as I had requested.
Yaya Nana helped me put on my shoes and jewelry and then I took some pictures with the girls. Not some sorry, they took pictures. When I say pictures, I mean lots and lots of pictures. We finally went downstairs, where the cars were waiting.
And Leena, Fayha , jawahir and I ended up in the same car and I was so glad because I am tried of faking the smiles it is very frustrating.
Aunty Ramla ummi's mom was the one who did the wa'azi (preaching), then some of Ayman's other aunties from his mom's side of the family prayed for me, and I was sprayed with a lot of perfumes and got lots of gifts, but the perfume was so much that I actually thought I was beginning to smell bad.
"Amaryan mu an sha kanshi, our beautiful bride looking and smelling nice. Allah ya miki albarka ya baku zaman lafiya. May Allah bless you and bless your union as well." One of them prayed "Amin." Everyone chorused the preaching lasted for about an hour extra after Ayman had showed up the aunties also spoke to him about how to treat his wife and what not.
After the event, we went back home, took our baths, had dinner and decided to gist.
"Hmm, Ni wannan zaman gidan baze Yiwu bah." Hmm, this staying at home will not work, Yaya Nana ummi's older sister said.
Leena smiled. The smile I knew all too well. "Leena, what are you planning?" I asked, "Nothing, fah, I was just wondering if maybe we could go out now and be back shortly after Magrib we can ask Aunty Laura to cover up for us." She said, This girl is too naughty.
All of them smiled, and they all turned to look at me. "Amarya, do you want to join?" They all asked. "Why would I say no when I know that after my marriage I have to ask for permission before I can go out, so of course, I will join in!" I squealed might as well go with the flow yeah?
We managed to convince Aunty Laura to help us get out without anyone knowing. We were going to Cold Stone for some ice cream which isn't really far from the house so hopefully, we shouldn't be long. we used the back door to get out of the house, and thankfully no one saw us.
We headed towards Yaya Nana's car got in and drove off.
At Cold Stone, we followed the queue and ordered our ice cream, then we found a seat for ourselves to enjoy the ice cream while we giggled about everything and nothing.
I was very grateful for this distraction because I really didn't want to think of what the next few days held talk less of what my life is going to be like after this marriage.
This is me pretending I'm not miserable already.
