5 Years Later.

Devin Myers POV

My Mom, Mother in Law and son are putting ornaments on the Christmas tree.

Flynn walks over and hands my Mom the picture of my late Dad, she looks a little sad, then kisses the glass orb and hangs it on the branch. Mom looks down at her grandson holding his little frame and perks up. Flynn lifts him so he can hang his picture next to his Grandfather's.

Flynn. My wife, she been through so much.

The time she was trapped in the carriage house left her with a broken jaw and orbital fracture. She needed 3 plates and 15 screws to repair the damage ... 2 broken ribs, a shattered radius, shoulder dislocation, and a broken finger ... she lost a kidney and her left eye. Last year she had 2 revision surgeries to correct the nerve damage in her face ...

He almost killed her.

She looks at me and smiles, her grin is still a little crooked.

Her father comes over, sits next to me and hands over a drink.

"How is she this year?"

Good. The numbness in her cheek is getting better, and she's gotten used to the new eye. She thinks it looks funny, don't know why, they match.

"That's not what I meant."

Oh, well as good as expected.

"Devin, she's my little girl ... please take extra care ..."

Dad you know Flynn is my life. They both are, I promise.

Daniel comes over to us.

"Papa Issac, you put on the angel?"

"Of course I will."

"Daddy you stay here."

HaHaHa yes Sir!

They finish the tree and take some pictures. Daniel wants his grandparents to put him down so while they read his story and tuck him in, I clean up.

After they leave I head upstairs. I hear Flynn coming out of the shower.

"I'm so tired. I thought today would never end! Why did you and Daddy get such a big tree?"

Danny wanted one to touch the ceiling, this is the first year he's old enough to help pick it out.

"HaHaHa he is super excited. I should have spread the decorating out over the week, I've been going since sun up. I've gotten used to having extra help."

We gave his nanny extra time off to go to her sister's wedding.

Sweetheart, you want this house ... excuse me, you and your Mother, want this house to look like a spread in Architectural Digest. We're not hosting any parties this year, you didn't have to go all out. Especially with Ingrid gone.

"I do ... it takes my mind off things ..."

She looks away and start tying up her hair.

I heard you this morning.

"Oh, it's nothing."

Hmph, think you need to see Dr ...

"No. I don't. I'm fine. Devin I'm fine."

She takes off her towel. The scar is fading on her side.

Let's have a real wedding, a big one.

"Why?"

You deserve it.
