Flynn POV

I flew back to New York before heading home, Devin was pissed, but I didn't care. I needed to tell Larry how he took the news, and what our next steps would be. We both wanted to spend a few more days together, but agreed I needed to go back sooner than later to deal with the fallout.

It was a rushed goodbye, but he understood.

Larry was happy about the impending divorce, but not so much about Devin's stance on Daniel. I can't blame him. He wants a relationship with his son. But I also can't blame Devin, he loves Peanut.

We agreed to give it some time.

Three months later, and nothing has changed. Devin won't sign the divorce papers, and won't move out. No attorneys are involved, yet, but he's pushing me.

He still thinks we can work it out.

I have so much guilt. I'm worried about Daniel. His little world is still intact, but for how long? He knows Mommy and Daddy are not in a good place. Luckily he has tons of activities this time of year. He and the nanny left for another school trip this morning.

Now that he's safely away from the adult drama, I can deal with my parents. Mainly my Mother. I asked Devin to keep all this between us, but he got butt hurt and told my folks everything last night. He caught some of my FaceTime call with Larry.

They are waiting for me in the kitchen. My Mother has already opened a bottle of Cabernet. Bad sign.

Hello. Mom, Daddy.

I give my Mother a hug.

She squeezes me tight then holds me at arms length.

"Is it true Flynn?"

Mom ...

"Devin said you have gotten ... involved with him!"

I pull away and sit down.

"Princess, we are just worried about you."

Please don't. I am a full grown woman capable of making my own decisions.

"That's true, but Flynn ... you've been through a big trauma. I don't think you're thinking clearly."

Daddy I'm clearer now than I've ever been. I'm doing what is good for me, not everyone else.

"Devin has always been there Honey, he loves you and Danny."

Mother please.

"What are you doing? Devin's heart is breaking."

Mom, listen for a change and stop trying to run my life. You have no idea who Devin really is.

"I know he's not a disassociative sociopath. Flynn you're about to reek havoc on your family, and it's completely unnecessary. Go to counseling. You and Devin have a good life, just give it some ..."

Oh my God, just let me make my own decisions! The right decisions for me!

"I would, if you could be trusted to do that ... but you are not making rational ones. Now that little boy is the most important ..."

Mom!!

"Ava, hear her out ... Flynn, tell us."

My Dad smiles at me and pulls my bossy Mother next to him on the bench. She nods her head and looks at me.

She's still intimidating, I feel ten.

"Well Flynn, explain."

OK ...
