Dean

I had no idea how long I had been asleep for, but my body must have needed it.

My eyes slowly opened up to the bright light of what appeared to be some sort of hospital room.

"Glad to see you're finally awake".

I turned my head towards the deep voice and realised who was standing in front of me.

"Hello Dean" he smiled before looking down at Lucy in his arms who was already smiling at me.

"Deeeeee!".

He put her down and smiled as she ran over to me.

"Hey baby. I missed you".

Lucy crashed herself into me and nuzzled her head into my stomach.

"Ow".

"Sorry" she pouted as if she was in trouble.

"No baby, it's okay. Not your fault. Now come and give me a cuddle to make me feel all better".

Sucking up the pain, I lifted Lucy up onto my lap and squeezed her tightly. The little sweetheart pulled herself out of my grip and instead started placing light kisses all over my face.

"She's been by your side all the time. A true protective little warrior".

"How long have I been asleep for?".

"Almost 3 days. You must have gone through something terrible for you to be out that long".

I looked down at Lucy who was snuggling into my chest and began to stroke her hair. How could I be so selfish for leaving Lucy with strangers for 3 whole days.

"You don't need to worry, she was with you the whole time. I made sure she had a bed next to yours. She ate, played and read by your side. I promise she's been taken care of as have you Dean".

"Dee play".

Lucy tugged at the white top I was wearing and pouted. It was only in that moment that I noticed she was wearing a beautiful light pink floral dress with a ribbon in her golden hair. I had only just met this man, but I knew he was the salvation we needed. We were strangers to him, yet he already showed such care to both Lucy and I.

"Soon baby. Just rest whilst Dee talks ok?".

Lucy snuggled into my chest and hummed a little tune to herself whilst I turned my attention to the powerful looking Mr Richardson.

"So it appears that you came into my building seeking only my help. Some of my staff told me that you refused their help and only requested for me. I do not know how far you've travelled, but it's clear that you came to me for help because you know who I am and what I do for a living, is that right?".

I watched as he pulled up a chair and sat near the bed I was in with his leg crossed over his knee.

"Actually, before all the questions why don't we get you some food".

I felt like crying at this man's kindness. It was truly a miracle that we found him and hopefully he can give us a brighter future.

"Thank you Mr Richardson".

"No. You call me James".

I watched as he pulled out his phone and typed something on it before quickly slipping it back into his pocket.

Suddenly the door opened and a young man walked in pushing a trolley. He pushed it over beside James and took a step back.

"Thank you Marcel".
