Babysitting the Babysitter

Chapter 12

After having fun in Steves's pool and eating pizza that Steve offered to pay for, everyone was getting ready for bed. The kids had practically begged to be allowed to stay over for the night to make sure Steve was going to turn out okay in the morning.

The large group was in the living room, all over the couches and floor. Dustin and the other kids started begging to watch a movie and the older kids gave in.

"Fine fine. But we want you guys all asleep right after. The fast we all sleep the faster we can see Steve back to normal," Nancy said as the movie started.
Steve, Billy, and Dustin were on the couch together. Jonathan and Nancy were on the loveseat as the rest of the kids were on the floor.

Steve had been oddly quiet after figuring out what had happened. Billy figured he was just trying to remember his normal life.
"Hey, Harrington..." he whispered
"Yeah B?"
"You okay?"
Steve took a bit to reply. He frowned and looked at him.

"I'm fine but... I guess I'm just confused. I remember everything in my life up to this point. And you said I graduated... but everything after isnt in my head anymore... I feel like I've know you guys all my life and you've never grown up but... I didn't really know any of you when I was this age..."

Billy nodded as he tried to understand what he meant. It must be confusing for the teen. Having his real childhood memories filled with days of people that he met years after. Some who weren't even born then.

"I know it's tough. Hell, we don't even know if you'll remember any of this when you're back to normal..." Billy sighed just as the movie ended. Everyone had fallen asleep other than the two boys.

"If I don't remember any of this... I.. I just want to say thank you. You took care of me when you didn't even have to. All of you guys did... it means a lot, Billy... thank you..." Steve yawned and leaned on Billy's shoulder, slowly falling asleep.
Billy sat there and looked at Steve. He smiled softly and patted his head before letting sleep take over him.

The morning finally came and Dustin was the first one to wake up. The boy blinked and looked around before spotting Steve, who was finally back to normal. The teen was leaning on Billy as he slept, snoring quietly.

"Guys- guys wake up-! Steve's back to normal!" The toothless boy whispered loudly. The rest of the group started to wake and smiled when they saw Steve.
Billy woke and looked over to the brunette on his shoulder. "Hey Pretty Boy. Wake up," he chuckled and nudged him.

Steve could be heard groaning as he sat up and looked around. "Mhhh... what happened..?" Steve asked as he rubbed his head, "I had the weirdest dream..."
"Yeah? Bet you did," Billy snickered and sat up too.
"Why are you guys looking at me like that...? And when did you three get here?" Steve asked.

It was obvious to everyone that Steve didn't remember exactly what had happened. He seemed to think it was a dream, so they all explained everything to him.

"So... I was a kid again..? And you all helped to take care of me?" Steve asked with a small smile, "oh god- did I do stupid stuff-?"

"You were fine Steve. Really cute actually," Max laughed.
"Oh shut up, Max. I wanna eat breakfast-! I'm starving," Steve smiled and rolled his eyes, taking them all to the kitchen to eat.

Weeks went by and everyone seemed to realized Steve had brief memories of everything. He seemed to remember the plush he had won Billy and being on the the Ferris wheel with them.

Everyone was just glad to have Steve back to normal. However, they constantly teased him about things he said or did. Mainly about how attached he was to Billy. The teasing caused Steve to finally confess that he had a crush on Billy, who said he felt the same way.
The two started to happily date, with Billy constantly reminding Steve of how obsessed he was with him.
