I woke up to a cold bed, Xaviers side of the room was still left untouched. The window was cracked open just an inch and his smell lingered in the room slightly but he hadn't stayed for long. I croaked lightly as I tried to turn over, my shoulder still aching despite my werewolf recovery time. The process would have sped up with the presence of a mate. I gritted my teeth.

"Linds" I gutted out as she swept me off my feet as I entered the kitchen. I flinched at the pain and she removed herself from me.

"It's not fully healed? That doesn't make any sense -" her words cut short with her own realization.

"Where is Xavier?" I spoke sourly.

"Gone training. He left with Luke earlier. I didn't ask questions, I figured you sent him away... I'm sorry Scar."

I shook her off my shoulder going for a cup of coffee. I gripped the dark granite countertops as the pain returned to my shoulder. Linds busied herself, pretending as if she wasn't watching my every move.

My eyes shot up to meet hers, "Did they catch the leader? The rogue that lead the attack?" I muttered out unnecessarily quickly.

Her shoulders sunk and she didn't need to say anymore, "He was untraceable, his scent diminished with the breeze, the only thing they had were his tracks and they didn't go far."

I nodded in understanding but this information only further stressed me. He wasn't done and he wouldn't stop until he got me.

"What happened out there in the woods Scar?" She quieted, knowing fully well that if anybody was in the building they would be working on listening in.

"I don't know how to explain it without sounding crazy" I blew off.

My sister moved in closer and gripped my hand, "Try me."

So I did, I told her almost everything. How I had recognized the man, how his accomplices did everything without him asking twice, his phenomenal level of calmness even as our warriors approached. He knew that he wouldn't get caught and the look he gave me told me I would see him again. He wasn't done.

She stood silent for a moment, analyzing my words, "did you tell him, Xavier? Or maybe even your beta?"

Neither have them have came near me since the evening prior. Avoiding me like the plague, but little did they know I was worse. "No I haven't said anything yet."

"If you don't, I will." She told me intently in the eyes, I nodded but my heart wasn't in it.

Something knocked over in the other room. Before I could even respond, arms wrapped around my legs. "I missed you Mama" my boy looked up to me, he gave me a once over his eyes halting on my shoulder. "Oh no" he held me tighter.

"Mase" I knelt down to reach his eye level. He almost pulled back at my closeness and I was surprised.

"You smell like the bad guys" he huffed, closing his eyes. "The ones from before," his hands turned to fists and I knew he was getting upset.

"I just haven't showered yet, I will go upstairs and then it will be off me." He looked hesitantly at me but nodded, moving back into me to allow him to hold him.

I returned to the room, Mase and Maverick surprised to see me, both their hands filled with an immense amount of cookies. I quietly set each of them on the counter, they waited, unsure of what my next move was. I left them with two cookies but instead placed a banana on top of it, "fruit first please". Then I began the most devastating thing a mother has to do, I cut my baby's hair for the first time.

Despite Linds protests, Maverick had convinced her to let me cut his hair too. It was as if they we reawakened, bouncing off the walls with a new energy.
