The moment Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji focused their attention on where the growling sound came from, Wei Ying swiftly shoved his hand inside his clothes as the next minute he took out a gun. With a shaking hand, he pointed the metal object forward whilst his finger rested on the gun's trigger.

"W-w-what is going on?" Wei Wuxian stuttered, his eyes as well as mouth wide open.

Meanwhile, the grip on Wei Wuxian's shoulder loosened up as Lan Zhan quickly changed his stance from crouching to protecting Wei Ying with his back facing the latter.

"Stay back, Wei Wuxian," Lan Zhan demanded with a frightening voice, which came out more like a devil's howl.

The moment the locks got twisted in the room, jailing the two individuals inside, it's as if the flow of time completely shut down too. 

Across Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, the carcass of a woman began to twist and turn, producing dreadful sounds of screeches, wailings, and hollow barks. The body, that once belonged to a beautiful lady, now turned to look like something out of the abomination. 

Disjointed limbs, fingernails, as well as toenails, rapidly grew and thickened. When the woman leisurely heaved from the ground and turned to face the other two, one would think that the devil rose from the dead; disheveled, long hair, dark red in color irises, mouth wide opened, producing deep, heavy breathing with a glint of whimpering.

Something else caught Wei Wuxian's attention when he scrutinized the appearance of that thing he so thought to be a woman... the tears she cried were red as if the woman cried actual blood, meanwhile, the front canine teeth rapidly extended in length, as if it was an animal's mouth...definitely not human.

Wei Wuxian choked out the words, that got stuck inside his dry throat, "Lan Wangji! What the fuck is that thing?" he screamed.

"Not human," said Lan Wangji, his voice as calm as ever.

Wei Wuxian's eyes widened in shock, "What do you mean not human?! What else can it be?!"

Lan Wangji slightly turned his head to the side, so his gaze could catch Wei Wuxian's as he demanded, "Wei Wuxian, run to the doors and try to open them,"

"I am not leaving you alone to deal with that, Lan Wangji! Move away so I could shoot it before it attacks," retorted Wei Wuxian whilst he tried to stand up on his feet. However, his legs gave out and he fell back to the ground, flinching in pain. 

"I said leave! And whatever happens, don't look this way! Keep your back facing us no matter what!" shouted Lan Wangji, his gaze becoming more fierce. 

Wei Wuxian knitted his eyebrows and was about to say something, however, instead, he screamed, "Lan Zhan! Watch out,"

Since Lan Wangji was preoccupied with demanding Wei Wuxian to leave and let him deal with the situation, he didn't pay attention to his surroundings. Just at that minute, the woman leaped to her feet and went straight for Lan Wangji as she clutched to the latter's arm and sank her teeth in Lan Zhan's skin. Wei Wuxian saw how the creature sank her fangs deep in the flesh, cracking sounds escaping from the body.

Abruptly, Lan Wangji's spare hand traveled to the woman's neck and he gripped it. He squeezed it so hard that the woman winced in pain and let go of the bleeding skin. Just at that moment, Lan Wangji swiftly threw her fragile body to the side with immense strength as the body collided with a wall.
