just like that the weekend was gone, dragging september along with it. the crisp october breeze that stung your eyes and bit at your nose was creeping it's way into the atmosphere and london's scenery was getting eerier by the day. as the summer turned into fall, london had started to look a lot less like a indie coming of age film and a lot more like a tim burton claymation, something olivia had learned to love very early on. although it wasn't much of a change from the normal wet and humid or wet and cold weather, it was the closest thing to seasons she had ever had, something florida had lacked.

olivia had never really liked october, it was an odd time in between two very different seasons , and maybe it was because it wasn't quit cold enough to wear super heavy and lavish coats but also too cold to wear just a cardigan, or maybe because those 31 days had always managed to bring the worst colds she had ever experienced. no matter what way you look at it, october just wasn't a kind month to her.

one thing she did appreciate about october though was the fact that she could now have soup more than once a day without judgement, her favorite food finally getting the recognition she felt it deserved. she had just been making her way into her 2:10 elevator ride, ready to curl up on her couch with a nice hot bowl of soup for lunch when the loud sound of boots clacking against the tiles broke her train of thought.

"wait!"

a foot broke through the lifts doors, stopping it just in time.olivia looked up from her phone when the person who's foot it belonged it stepped in, the women sending her a smile before apologizing "sorry". olivia watched her for a moment, giving her the typical 'you're fine' half smile as she looked back down at her phone.

that was the beginning to the end of olivia's lonely lift rides.

══════════════════════════

for the next two and a half weeks olivia noticed a few things about the mystery women, one being that she was not as much of a random guest as she thought, but a resident. she also noticed that they had similar schedules, both taking the elevator at 9:20 on tuesdays, thursday's, and fridays and 9:36 on saturdays. she didn't mind not having the elevator completely to herself anymore , she didn't however enjoy the fact that she could no longer give herself her daily affirmations on the way down to the lobby. none the less olivia had grown used to her, holding the door open a bit longer than usual in case she was running late, secretly enjoying her company even if there were no words.

another thing she had taken notice to was the fact that she always dressed the exact same every day, black slacks or jeans, a black, white, or gray shirt, blazer, and black, low heeled boots. it was a very put together look, very boss like and olivia was all for it. she pulled it off well and the confidence she exuded made olivia want to stand up just a bit straighter when they rode the elevator together, just in case she looked over.

not that she was hoping she did. she definetly didn't look at her from the corner of her eye, stealing glances every now and than. no, definetly not. she would never notice the way she picked at her nails whenever she looked like she was in a rush, or the way she always seemed a bit more relaxed saturdays. like today for example, olivia had just gotten through the door on of the elevator when she stepped in, cautiously stepping out of the way of olivia's groceries that had piled at her feet. was she embarrassed about forgetting to bring her tote? yes. was she gonna speak up and apologize? absolutely not, she was too nervous. so there they stood, in the not so awkward silence on their way to their respective floors, olivia stealing a few glances every now and than with a small, almost missable smile on her face when realize something. something had changed.

she had.

she wasn't wearing her normal business casual attire, she was wearing actual human clothes, aside from the boots. olivia liked to think they were the only pair of shoes she had, when in reality they were probably just her most comfortable pair. either way, olivia thought they complimented her well. so caught up in the thought of this mystery women she had grown to like without muttering a word to she didn't even realize that said women had already left the elevator, olivia now on the 10th floor, door waiting open for her to leave as well.

Olivia quickly picked all of her grocery up, rushing to her door before her arms snapped off from the weight of 20 bags of food and unlocked it. she set her things on the counter and sighed, taking a seat on her couch. since when has she started dozing off? come to think of it, since when did she care so much about some random girl she didn't even know the name of? 'it's just because she's pretty' is what she told herself 'very very pretty. she also smells really good.... kinda like lavender.... oh my god i need to stop.'. she got up and immediately started putting her groceries away, trying to distract herself from thinking of the women any more than she already had.

why was she thinking so much of her? she told herself  it was because she hadn't seen anyone new in the complex in almost 2 years. it was because she lived on the floor below hers. since when had she memorized what floor she lived on? was she going crazy? by the time olivia had thought this all up she had packed away her groceries already, now just standing in the middle of her kitchen like a idiot.

she had dozed off again, her mind thinking once more of the women who had some how made her way into olivia's subconscious, taking up a space in her mind she didn't know was there. was this normal? it had to be. everyone thinks this way when they meet a new person who just so happens to live on the floor below theirs and is extremely attractive in their looks and in the way they carry themselves, their presence making you want look a bit better, stand a bit taller, and glance over at them just a bit longer.... everyone thinks that way when they meet someone new..

right?
