for the first time in history, olivia did not enjoy the last sunday of the month. the movie theater was closed for maintenance and olivia was absolutely devastated, sulking her way back to her car after driving all the way there for nothing. she sat in complete silence for what felt like eternity, in reality 5 minutes, as she thought of to do for the rest of the day. alice was busy with work, she had no groceries to do, and as much as lucy loved her, she highly doubted she wanted to deal with her for 7 hours.
she looked at her phone, contemplating for a second before pulling up google to see if any of the other theaters were open today. none. not a single one.
'is this what heartbreak feels like? it has to be' she thought to herself, setting her phone down before pulling out of the empty parking lot and driving to the diner lucy had suggested a few months ago, hoping to drown her sorrows is maple syrup and stack of buttermilk pancakes.

she had just finished her second pancake when she got a call, almost choking as she swallowed her food, quickly cleaning her sticky fingers off the best she could before answered the call on its last ring, "hello?"

"have you done it?", her sisters voice flowing through the phone

"good morning to you too ava, and no, i havent. it's been like two days okay? relax"she replied, silently signaling to the waitress for a to go box when she came buy, mouthing a quick 'thank you' as she packed her food away.

"oli that's more than enough time! the anticipation is killing me and you know that if you don't do it soon you'll chicken out"

"ooohh but you thought i was ridiculous? what happened to that?"

"hush. that's besides the point"

olivia laughed, shaking her head."i'm gonna do it i promise" she insisted, leaving her cash and tip at the table before taking her food and walking back to her car "but i have to go, i'm about to start driving"

"oh, okay. stay safe please. love you"

"i will i will, love you too vivi. bye"

she set her things down, putting her seat belt on and tapping the steering wheel 10 times, 5 per thumb, before turning the car on,she took her seatbelt off and than put it back on before starting her drive back home.

this was the third store she had aimlessly walked through, finding her way to the movie section to see if they had any good ones she could buy . "i hate this" she mumbled to herself, grabbing a random movie that was probably going to suck and walking to the cash register. she payed for it, thanking the cashier who looked a little too happy to be there before running back to her car as rain started to pour down, something not uncommon for this area. she sighed as she got in , doing some cooking breathes and calming herself down a bit before driving off.

"you're back early" lucy chimed as olivia made her way through the lobby, standing in front of her desk.

"the theaters are closed for maintenance. i've been trying to find things to do for 3 hours but it was useless and than it started raining and i got scared so i came back" she whined, walking to behind the desk and throwing herself into the chair lucy had placed for her, carefully resting her head on the others shoulder "my heart is shattered".

lucy laughed, petting the poor girls head "i'm sure you'll survive a month without you're 'me day',dear."she really did feel bad for olivia, she knew how much she looked forward to the event and even worse that she had to drive in the downpour, knowing just much the act really did make her nervous.

"i guess, i bought a movie but i don't think i'm going to watch it. do you have any suggestions?" she asked, sitting up straight as someone walked to the desk, waiting patiently as lucy did what she was actually paid to do. to be a receptionist, not olivia's therapist.

"there's a really great film called when harry met sally, you could watch"

olivia nodded, watching the rain beat down on the windows. truth is she had already watched that film 8 times but for lucy? she wouldn't mind another. after a while it was time for lucy to go, exchanging hugs before they parted their separate ways, lucy leaving to probably help harry find where he had placed the remote today and olivia heading to eat soup and watch whatever shitty movie she had bought.

as she made her way into the elevator she realized someone else was making their way in as well. emily. olivia was positive anyone within a 10 mile radius could hear her heartbeat in that very moment. she was cute with her wet hair, struggling to close her umbrella. adorable. wait. this was her moment, this was olivia's moment, this is your moment to introduce yourself.

"need some help?"

'seriously olivia? that's all you could come up with?'

"uh yeah actually" emily spoke, handing it over to the girl she didn't know the name of but had seen a dozen times before

olivia took it, carefully messing with it before closing it, droplets from the outside of it spraying over them as it closed.

"sorry" emily laughed, wiping her arms and face off before taking it back "i should of shook it off before coming inside

"oh no it's my fault, really". olivia's cheeks burned as she handed it back, shooting her a empathetic smile. and just like that they were on the 9th floor, emily watching the doors open before turning back to the girl she didn't even know spoke up until 4 minutes ago but was glad she did, saying "thanks again" before walking out.

olivia nodded, getting out a quick "you're welcome" before the doors closed, reopening once she was on her floor. she couldn't help the pep in her step as she skipped to her door like a giddy school girl.

they had finally spoken and olivia never wanted that silence ever again.
