emily waited patiently for olivia at rocky's, the small café they had bonded over what felt like so long ago. she had always seen rocky's as her own little get away spot for when she wanted some alone time, the workers already knowing her by name and her usual order, and as much as she liked having her own little world in the café; she liked sharing it with olivia too. something about showing her new food items on the menu even though she always got the same thing was fun. she had never brought her friends here because she wanted it to be hers, and it still was, just with olivia. her mind wondered to what would of happened if they hadn't both been here that day ; if olivia hadn't decided to not go home. would they of never become close? would emily still be lonely in her complex? she knows she would of spent christmas alone, probably watching some random christmas special with a bottle of wine, but right now was not the time to think about the 'if' because she had just walked and emily's mind was suddenly completely blank.

"hey" olivia grinned, leaning down and giving emily a warm hug, mind running after she realized they had never done that before.

"o-oh, hi" she chuckled, sitting up and hugging her back before slouching back in her seat. 'she's a good hugger'.

"sorry i'm a little late, since the holiday time off started i keep sleeping in late and than i get off track"

"it's alright, i would too if i could" she replied, getting up "i'm gonna go order. what do you want?"

"i can get it!" olivia said, getting up from her seat.

"i got it, i'm already up and you paid last time so i'll pay this time"

olivia sighed and defeatedly sat back down "cheddar and broccoli soup please." after two or so months of really getting to know emily she had realized a few things, one being that emily always won. weather that be in cards or the time they played mario kart at a arcade after lunch and olivia was certain the game was rigged because even after 4 times, emily had still won, or now at lunch.

she also noticed that the older of the two had changed since they became close. she didn't seem as unapproachable anymore; she was actually extremely funny and charming. she was still reserved in certain aspects but she let herself go as much as she could— she stopped dressing in her usual go to's. it wasn't a big change, but a change none the less. she liked it, she thought the new found appreciation of dark denim jeans looked good on her, yet one thing never changed. her shoes. she still wore her black heeled boots every day, like she was today as she walked back to their table, a tray in each hand as she set them down on their table, taking her seat back in front of her.

"are those the only pair of shoes you own em? cause i can get you new ones" she teased before thanking her for the food.

"oh shut up, they are my favorite! plus, i like the clicking sound, it's like a power boost thing"

emily stopped for a moment, her mind stopped yet running a million a minute. 'power boost? is she a top? she has to be'. she blushed as she took a sip of her soup in hopes emily wouldn't noticed the burning on cheeks. she did.

"the clicking is very satisfying, i'll give you that"

"exactly" she defended "but also, since when do you notice my shoes? maybe you're the profiler here"

"i'm just observant!! plus i see you almost every morning so of coarse i'm going to notice"

emily knew she made her flustered but she couldn't help it, seeing olivia blush and than try to play it off as if she didn't know emily was trained to spot those things was entertaining. " well ms.observent. what are your plans for tonight? any new year's eve parties?"
