MARGARITA’S POV

“What the hell are you doing here Eli?” Janella panicked as she sees me sa headquarters ng ‘Soshiki’.

I smiled at her and said, “I’m going to be a part of Soshiki now”.

The headquarters is just few blocks away sa bahay ko. It looked like just a normal house na tinutuluyan ng isang typical family.

Just like my house, may underground unit din sila pero mas malaki. It’s like it can accompany atleast ten people. Computers here and there, a dining table set on pure black marble top, fridge on black, tiled walls on black with blue LED lights and a dart board.

Nakatayo ako ngayon, beside Charles at nakatingin kay Janella, drinking some juice sa mini-bar ng hq.

“What do you mean na you’re going to part of Shoshiki now? Pano mo nalaman? And you also know na we’re protecting you right?” sunod sunod na bigkas ni Janella.

“I knew everything na nangyayari sa life ko Janella”, I said.

“So, alam mo na taliwas sa mission na’min ang gagawin mo diba?” she fired back.

“I can’t just always rely on you two on protecting me”, sagot ko.

Humigpit ang pagkakahawak ni Janella sa kaniyang baso na senyales nang pagkairita.

“Then get someone to teach you self defense damn it!” sigaw niya.

Tumayo siya at lumapit sa akin. She now has small tears rolling down her cheek.

“I can’t afford to lose someone Eli. Because you’re not just someone na pinoprotektahan ko, but you’re my friend. I know everything about you. How you’re friends betray you and it gave joy to my heart na kahit galing ka palang sa matinding betrayal ay nagawa mong iset-aside yung trust issues mo para ituring akong kaibigan”, she sincerely said.

“You’re too kind”, she paused. “and Soshiki’s not for you. Kasi rito? We don’t give kindness to people na gumagawa ng masama. We don’t give freaking mercy. Kaya please, just yourself someone to teach you self-defense, I can’t lose a friend right now”, she added.

Kinuyom ko ang kamao ko. I know she got some points and she don’t want to lose me pero this is what I want. I want to protect other people also. I can’t just be a princess. I need to learn how to hold a weapon. Kasi What if wala sila kapag inatake ako? What if someone’s going to get me na hindi nila alam?

“Don’t you trust me?” she looked at me, dumbfounded.

“I thought alam mo ang lahat about me? Alam mo bang may inutusan akong tao para pabagsakin ang buhay ng mga taong nagtraydor sa akin?” patuloy ko.

“What are you talking about?” she asked.

“What I’m telling is” I smirked. “I’m not a saint to begin with. I take revenge and I’m not kind to those people na nagtatake advantage” I continued.

Yinakap ko siya. “I know you’re worried about me pero I can manage”, bigkas ko.
Kumalas siya sa pagkakayap at hinarap ako.

“Bahala ka nga, ang tigas rin ng ulo mo! It’s like a bato ba?” asar niya.

“Ikaw na ang bahala sa kaniya” Charles ordered.

“Yes Commander!” sagot ni Janella.
Inakbayan ako ni Janella at dinala sa isang kuwarto. Pagkabukas ng ilaw, I saw many dummies na nakakalat at different ranges.

“Dito sa Soshiki, we don’t use first name basis. We have agent names” she started briefing.

“My name’s Blaze, si Charles naman Commander. Melody’s Arch” she said.

“So how will I know kung ano ang agent name ko? tanong ko.

“By this” then she pulled a string showing different weapons. There’s guns, throw knives, daggers and a samurai.

“Choose” she said.

What really caught my attention were the knives. I ‘m really obsessed by knife throwing. I tried it many times when we’re going to Lola’s place. I really loved it being light-weighted and sharp. I loved the thought na it looked like something that can’t kill you pero can actually do. It resembles me.

Kinuha ko ang throw knife and examined it.

“I like this one” sabi ko.

“Then, ikaw na si Agent Swan” she said.

“But why naman Swan?” I asked.

“Swan’s an animal na hindi mo dapat maliitin. They look something that can’t hurt you… but actually dangerous when in trouble” she explained.

Agent Swan… It suits me.

Mabilis niyang kinuha niya ang baril at tinutok sa isang human dummy. I covered my ears using my hands while she fired it and hit the dummy’s bullseye.

“Good?” she asked.

I nodded while removing my hands off my ear. “Don’t worry masasanay ka rin”, kumento niya.

“Try mo yung weapon” Janella suggested.

I grabbed the knife and stood on the five-meter range dummy. I tried to remember kung paano ako tinuruan ni Lolo sa pagbato.

Apo, una tingnan mo kung anong klaseng kutsilyo ang gamit mo at kung ano ang target mo.

My target is a board dummy while my knife has a light grip and a heavy sharp blade.

Kapag natingnan mo nang maayos, take your right foot forward, relax your body and stand straight.

I did what I remember.

Pagkatapos, rotate your body sideways na hindi nagagalaw ang paa.

Inikot ko ang katawan ko patagilid just what Lolo said.

Lastly, look at your target and throw the knife.

I looked at the dummy and with the right precision, I hit the bullseye. I can’t believe it! Gosh! It’s been a long time. Akala ko papalya ako.

Nakarinig ako ng claps from Janella.

“Girl! Alam mo naman pala kung pano humawak ng throw knife, just a little practice at self-defense, your good to go! Akala ko you’re the same sa mga feeling matapang na mayayaman. May ibubuga ka pala!” she said.

“I know right” bigkas ko na may kasamang hairflip.

Habang papalapit ako kay Janella ay may bagay na muntik na tumama sa’kin. Biglang tumigil ang katawan ko at nabalutan ng takot. Sh-t! I can’t move my legs! Para akong naparalyze.

After a few seconds, nagalaw ko na ang ulo ko at dahan-dahang tumingin sa kaliwa kung saan dumapo yung bagay na muntik na pumatay sa akin.

Palaso?

“Sino ka?” tanong ng isang matinis at malumanay na boses.
