C h a p t e r 1 7

For a moment he only stared at me, silent in where he stood. He eventually nodded, lowering his head before uttering his permission.

"Sige,"

At his word, I took in a breath, refocusing my gaze upon the lady on the bed as I prepared to speak. Hindi ko alam kung bakit, pero sobrang kinakabahan ako sa gagawin ko. I had seen Pastor Melchour, Ma'am Johanna, and others in the church pray for the sick, I've seen the wonderful testimonies that came about it, pero ni minsan hindi ko pa nasubukang gawin ito.

Faith and Doubt engaged in a tug of war in my spirit, and it took much strength to resist the urge to back off.

I clasped my eyes momentarily.

Panginoon, hindi po ako Propeta, hindi po ako katulad ni Pastor Melchour na mayroong gift of healing and miracles, pero Lord, I appeal to Your word. You said in Your Word that signs shall follow those who believe, that they will lay hands on the sick and they shall be healed. Lord, I fully believe it. So Lord, for the sake of this young girl and forYour Glory... anoint me.

Marahan kong inilapat ang kamay sa balikat ng dalaga at muling pumikit.

"Lord, salamat po sa pagligtas ng buhay ng dalagang ito. Maraming salamat po at binigyan Mo ulit siya ng bagong pagkakataong mabuhay. Alam ko pong may plano Ka pa para sa buhay niya..." I bit my my lip and resumed, "So Lord right now, I pray for healing in this girl's body. I declare complete healing right now in all her broken bones, in Jesus Name!"

I opened my eyes and took in a breath, gazing down at her intently. "In Jesus Name, be healed!"

A few seconds passed, and silence reigned in the room. The young woman lay still on the bed, motionless as she slept. My brows knit in wonder.

What now? Inangat ko ang paningin at umatras, now gazing at Gabriel who still looked down at her sister's body.

Hindi ko alam kung anong dapat maramdaman, kung mahihiya ba ako o ano. Napabuntong-hininga nalang ako at nagsimulang tumalikod. "Sige, una na ako Gabriel," paalam ko.

Akmang lalakad na ako palayo nang biglang marinig ang pagsinghap ng dalaga. I turned around in haste, astonished as I saw her eyes wide open, mouth agape as she panted breath. Lalong nanlaki ang mga mata ko nang makita siyang biglang bumangon mula sa kama. I stood there unmoved, unsure if what I saw was really true. I wanted to say something - anything! But my mind couldn't come up with a coherent sentence.

"Manung?" Sambit niya, her voice limp as she gazed up at her brother. A tear rolled down her eye, her gaze now anchored upon me as she took each breath.

Unti-unting may namuong ngiti mula sa mga labi ko, understanding flooding back to my mind. A pair of tears slid down my face, joy welling up my heart as I saw her move.

"Thank you, Lord..." I whispered. And with this I turned around, running out of the room in haste. The doctor needs to know this...
