This poem is about the racism and oppression against people of color, specifically black people. I was inspired to write this at the peak of the Black Lives Matter movement. If you don't agree with the movement or what I say in this poem, please don't leave a hateful comment. There's enough hate going around already, so let's not spread it here.
Justice for all, they say
Is there justice in the systematic racism and oppression against people of color?
Especially against my brothers and sisters in the black community?
The government finds ways to justify the disturbances in the nation
Yet how is it that all 50 states are protesting the deaths of innocent black citizens?
The only answer is because there is no justification for the bigotry black people face
The world is on fire
Millions of people are absolutely destroyed with anger and grief
But the enemy can still confidently say that rubber bullets and tear gas are necessary because
"these prostesters are thugs"
That's fair, right?
Wrong
America is not a peaceful country, in any way whatsoever, so the protests and the riots are
what's actually necessary to grab the attention of a government that sees black people as less than human
Even the President is quicker to harm the citizens of this country and hide than to speak out
against this injustice
And you'll still stand with this man?
You should be ashamed
You're standing on the side of the oppressor and it makes me sick to be a US citizen if that's
what this country stands for
Educate yourself, use your voice, platform, and privilege to address and make others aware of
the wrongdoings in this nation
And maybe there will finally be some meaning behind justice for all
