The Days

This poem is about wishing for the magical days you'll share with your significant other, when you meet them. I tried to not say a specific gender for the significant other in this poem because I know everybody has different preferences.

I wish for the days when I'll have picnics on the grass

With my lover

The whole world will be radiant with color

And we'll sit there feeding each other

We'll laugh and smile so much our cheeks will be sore

I long for the days when I'll gaze up at the stars

With my partner by my side

We'll hold hands

And bathe comfortably in our silence

Only talking when we make a wish on a shooting star

But most of all

I yearn for the day I'll walk down the aisle

With my father

My heart will beat rapidly

And my stomach will burst with butterflies

I'll notice the tears in my mother's eyes

And then wipe my own

Then I'll smile at the person waiting for me

At the end of that aisle

Where my dreams will come true

And I'll start a new life

With my best friend
