“Hey, what’s up?” I asked. I walked into the living room. It seemed I was always at the Lynches, especially on the weekends. It was more homey then my stuffy dorm. Sometimes Rocky, and I would do something or sometimes I would just hang out, and study. I sat down next to Riker on the couch. He rubbed his eyes, and threw his phone down on the couch next to him.
“Nothing much.” When he moved his hands, he revealed his red bloodshot eyes. He groaned and set his head on the couch. I brought my feet up on the couch, and leaned against the couch arm opening my textbook.
“Don’t you ever study at your dorm?” he croaked sitting up a little.
“It’s too crowded.” I responded and looked down at my book.
“Not like there’s any less people here.” He grumbled. I peered up from my book. Was he mad at me for something?
“Do you want me to leave?” I asserted.
“No, that’s not what I meant.” I rolled my eyes and went back to studying. By the look of his eyes, and aching head I could tell he’d must’ve had a hangover.
“Have a little too much to drink last night?” I smirked. His eyes narrowed, and he glared at me.
“Shut up.” I slammed my book closed, and sat up.
“Geez, you’re a jerk when you have a hangover!” I stood up.
“Wait, Rian.” He got up and grabbed my arm. “I’m sorry it’s just been a stressful day.” I looked at his eyes, I could tell he looked upset, and worn down. His touch sent shivers down my arm. There was something about being close to him. I looked at him sympathetically.
“Do you want talk about it?” he sat back down on the couch.
“It’s stupid.” He paused but then he started again. “I didn’t really feel like going out last night, but it’s the end of the world if I’m not spending enough frickin’ time with her.” I could tell he was talking about Estella. “We went to this stupid club and I swear I barely even saw her all night.”
“Why is that?” I pondered. He shrugged his shoulders.
“I had no idea where she was, and when I found her she was dancing on this other guy.” The guy from the movie theater instantly popped into my head. I hadn’t decided if I wanted to tell Riker about it or not. It was a big decision, it would ruin their whole relationship. But, I had to tell him. I would want to know if I was being cheated on. I cared about him so much, I didn’t want him to get hurt.
“So what did you do? I pried.
“I left. A buddy of mine was there that owns a bar, and I was mad. So we went, got drunk, and now I feel like crap.” I put a hand on his shoulder.
“That’s what alcohol will do to you.” I spoke patting his shoulder with my hand.
“That’s not even the worst part, this morning I wake up, go downstairs, and you can guess who’s at the door. So In the midst of my throbbing hangover, I have a girlfriend standing in my doorway screaming at me because I deserted her. Now Dad tells me we have a bunch of interviews later.” He buried his head in his hands. I could tell he was feeling really stressed. “I just feel like right now all of this is just too much to handle.” I wrapped my arm around his torso, in an attempt to comfort him. His head leaned over, sat on my shoulder, and I stroked his hair.
“I’m sorry Riks, I know what you’re going through.” I softly mumbled.
“Thanks, but I don’t think you do, I know college is stressful for you and all, but-” I cut him off, and looked down to the floor.
