He walked inside the door of the studio, let the door slam behind him. Like always he was wearing a beanie, a light blue one today. He tossed his gray Hollister sweatshirt on the floor, leaving him in his Hollister sweatpants and t-shirt. I chuckled a little.

“You are literally a walking Hollister advertisement.”  I joked. He shrugged.

“That’s the only the things you can see.” He smirked. I rolled my eyes.

“You know half the time I can see your underwear too, Lynch.”  I voiced.

“Oh, you like that don’t you.”  I smacked him on the chest.

“Oh shut up.” I looked up to the mirror wall to reveal I was blushing. I pressed my hand to my cheek to hopefully relieve my redness. I walked over to my iPod that was hooked up to a speaker sitting next to the wall and clicked play. “Here, this is what I have so far.” I spoke quickly changing the subject.

As the music played on the speaker, I could see a smile start to widen on his face.

“You chose Stay With Me huh?” He inquired, and I nodded.

“Yea, I really like the rhythm of the song.” I started dancing out a few parts of the song I had choreographed at the beginning. I stopped in the middle at a part where I ran out of moves. I stood and dropped my hands to my sides. “I’m stuck.”

“Have you tried anything?” he asked. I nodded my head.

“I’ve tried everything! It feels like anything I do, everything I try, I can’t do it! I just can’t do it!” He tried to cheer me up with his warm smile.

“You’ll get it figured out.”

“No I won’t! You don’t know how much I have riding on this. Anna hates me for some reason, Jordan won’t work with me, and is making me choreograph this all by myself, and if I screw this up I’ll get kicked off.” He stepped in closer to me. He placed his hands on my shoulders, and looked in to my eyes.

“If Anna hated you then she wouldn’t have given you this part. It’s going to be okay, I promise.” I took a deep breath. We stood for a second in silence in the middle of the dance studio. I had to take my eyes away from his. I couldn’t let them linger to long looking into his, or I don’t know what would’ve happened. I stepped back and buried my fingers in some of my tussled, sweaty hair falling out of my ponytail.

“What's your music?" Riker inquired. I giggled.

"My music?"

"Yea, your music. How would you define music?"  I bit my lip as I pondered the question.

"Tunes and Melody's to dance to I guess." Riker shook his head.

"Come on, music is much more than that! Music is a way to express yourself, music tells your story. That's why I'm so passionate about it." That is one thing I loved about him, he was so passionate about everything he did, especially his music. He raised an eyebrow.

"So what's your music?" He asked again, and I smiled.

"Well, I guess you're my music. When I first came here I was scared, and insecure.  At first you were just helping me dance, but it’s so much more. You helped me fit in here, you helped me with my mom. You helped me feel secure.” He grinned.

“I’m glad I mean that much to you because you mean a lot to me too.” I bit my lip. Learning I meant a lot to him made my heart flutter. “You just need to remember why you started dancing in the first place.” He spoke. He walked over to the speaker, unplugged my iPod, and then plugged in his phone. He started to mouth the lyrics of a song that played.

Oh don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me
I said "You're holding back"
She said "Shut up and dance with me"
This woman is my destiny
She said "Oooooh, shut up and dance with me"

He started to dance around me and I giggled a little. He gestured for me to join him, but I shook my head. After a little more of my refusal, and his dancing, he finally just took my arm and started to spin me around, spontaneously dancing to the song. We weren’t doing it for anything, we didn’t have any of the moves choreographed. We were just having fun.

She took my heart I don't know how it happened
We took the floor And she said.

Riker had gotten me to start singing the lyrics too. He sang in his perfect pitched voice, and I sang in my terrible off key one. I was definitely a dancer not a singer. I don’t think I remember the last time I just danced because I wanted to.

Oh don't you dare look back
Just keep your eyes on me
I said you're holding back
She said "shut up and dance with me"
This woman is my destiny
She said "Oooooh, shut up and dance with me”

He spun me around and by the end of the song he had his arms around my waist and we were both laughing. He released me from his grasp, but I didn’t move any distance away. Our cheeks were both red and we were both still smiling. I turned around to face him.

“You’ve been so caught up in everything lately you just needed to remember what it was like to have fun dancing.” He spoke. I shook my head, and wrapped my arms around him in a hug.

“Thanks, I needed that.” I mumbled. He nodded his head.

“So, you ready to finish this dance?” he asked. I grinned.

“Now I am.” I walked over and played the song Stay With Me on his phone since it was already hooked up to the speaker.

Every morning after
I’m the same disaster
Every time it's Groundhog Day

We started by him grabbing my hand, and pulling me close. Then we placed our opposite hands on each other’s back and looked into each other’s eyes. We start dancing across the floor, never loosing eye contact. Our moves stayed to the same beat until the chorus came up.

Stay with me
Tonight
I want you to
Stay with me
Tonight

He twirls me around, and I spin back into his chest, and we start dancing again. We danced our choreographed dance movements until the end of the song was near. When the words “Every morning after” came back he dipped me to the floor. My head made a full circle from him, to the floor. His hand slid up my back and lifted my head back up to meet his. When I came up, my forehead just barely touched the top of his. The music was over. We were just standing in silence both breathing heavily. I can feel his chest heave next to mine. My heart was beating rapidly, and I’m not sure if it was from the dancing, or the fact that I was this close to him. Our hands remained intertwined until it happens. He untangles our fingers, and grabs my face into his hands. He pulls his head forward, and finally urgently crashes his lips against mine.

It felt like more than I ever imagined kissing him would feel like. My heart stopped, and then started beating even faster. My brain couldn’t think. My whole body tensed. I suddenly didn’t feel close enough to him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and made myself as close as humanly possible to him. The feeling of his lips against mine was sensational, like nothing I ever felt before. I wanted it to last forever.

Riker after moments had passed, broke away. I dropped my arms. He looked confusedly into my eyes. There was so many things I wanted to say, but couldn’t. Riker stepped away from me, his eyes winced, and he pursed his lips. Finally he opened his eyes again and whispered.

“I’m sorry.” Then ran out the studio doors.
