“Oh Hi Rian.” Her fake, unpleasant smile gleamed on her face. Her, and mystery boy had stopped kissing just a few seconds short of when I walked up. If I were her I would be a little nervous that I just got caught cheating on my boyfriend. Not Estella though, Estella wasn’t feared she made people fear her. She was like a siren from Greek mythology. At first you think she’s a gorgeous, and sweet girl, but once she lures you in you realize how horrible, and manipulating she is.  Something about her nature, she could make anyone feel insecure just by smiling at them.

“Hi.” I asserted in a far less cheery, but at least genuine tone.

“Fancy meeting you here.” She said with a slim grin. I knew what she was doing. She was trying to make conversation to distract me from the rather noticeable guy she was just kissing a few moments go. I wasn’t having it.

“So who’s this?” I asked directing my attention towards the familiar stranger.

“Just a friend.” She responded. Her left shoulder shrugged and she smiled softly at the guy sitting across from her. She would honestly make for a great actress, because she was better at acting than anybody I knew.

“Really do you kiss all your friends like that?” I snapped. She seemed surprised that I would even mention it. Did she honestly expect me to ignore it? She let out a little laughing huff, then turned back to me.

“Why not. You do.” She glared. Her angry eyes that didn’t match to the soft features of her face were burning into me. I could see she was trying to intimidate me. She was trying to say: ‘Step away Rian, and you won’t get hurt.’ But she wasn’t going to intimidate me. Not this time. Suddenly I realized the weight of her words. What did she mean by “You Do?”

The realization struck me. Did she know about me and Riker’s kiss? How would she have known that? Riker couldn’t have told her. Maybe she didn’t know and it was just a technique to getting under my skin. Like she didn’t do that already.

“Maybe I should go.” Suggested the dark haired, rather built guy, wearing a black shirt that read “Hollywood Wrestling Club.”

“Bennett, its fine!” Estella tried to convince. I crossed my arms.

“Bennett huh? So Bennett, did you know Estella actually has a boyfriend.” He looked at Estella a little shocked.

“Oh, you’re still with that Riker kid huh?” That was not the reaction I was hoping for. She sighed.

“Yea, I didn’t feel like breaking up with him yet.” Her eyes were directed at me when she continued, like she was rubbing something in. “He’s too much fun.” The lack of value she had for others seriously disgusted me. She took everyone for advantage like they were her chess pieces and she was simply playing a game. If something wasn’t benefiting her, she didn’t care about it. An evil smirk was now displayed on her face.

“How could you be so insensitive?” I exclaimed. Estella did nothing but grin.

“Bennett, I’ll see you later okay.” Estella hopped off the stool and walked straight past without even saying a word to me. I followed her out the door of the coffee shop into the warm California wind of the outside.

“Estella!” I called as she kept going forward. “Estella!” She abruptly stopped in the middle of the sidewalk, and slowly turned around.

“Why do you care so much about who I hang out with?” she sneered.

“I don’t. Honestly I couldn’t care less about you, but I care a lot about Riker! I don’t understand how you could cheat on him!” She shook her head.

“Poor naive innocent little Rian. You care so much about someone who you don’t realize doesn’t give a dang about you.” As much as her words pierced, I knew they weren’t true. They couldn’t be.

“This isn’t about me! You have to tell Riker you’re cheating on him, or I will!”

“Well that’s a little….crazy don’t you think?” Her words were uneasily smooth. “It’s not your fault though. I know crazy runs in your family.” Her words hit like bullets. They penetrated through my heart.

“What is that supposed to mean?”

“Oh, I just meant you probably get the crazy from your mom. She’s still a little messed-“

“DON’T YOU DARE BRING MY MOM INTO THIS! YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT HER!” I screamed. Tears quickly filled into my eyes. I couldn’t cry, I couldn’t let her win.

“Trust me, I know enough. You know maybe she would get better if you would go visit her once in a while.”

“SHUT UP ESTELLA! SHUT UP! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO TALK ABOUT HER!” my face burned red with rage. My fists were clenched. Tears started to make their way down my face. Estella put up her arms.

“Whoa Rian, Chill! You don’t want to end up where your mom is. Then you would actually have to talk to her. Oh here’s a hint, next time call your actual mom “mom” You never know what can set off crazy people.”

With one large, swift movement my fist came crashing into her face. I stepped back and looked at the blood on my knuckles. I didn’t know what happened, I had never punched anyone before. I guess I really didn’t realize what I was doing until my fists came into impact with her face.

I looked at Estella in shock of what I had just done. I honestly couldn’t believe I did it. I could tell I hit her pretty hard form the aching in my fist, and the blood that had trickled from her nose onto the sidewalk. She was bent over holding her face. Even with all the hatred I held for her, I almost felt bad. I had never physically hurt anyone.

How did she even know about those things? Most of what she said was private details I had only ever told Riker. I cared about him, I trusted him. Most of all I thought he even had feelings for me. I looked over at Estella who was now trying to make her way to stand up straight. Thoughts and feelings rushed into my head. I didn’t know what to do, so I turned around and ran.
