Without further ado, here are the winners for General Fiction:
1st Place:
"A Dance of Life" by nadi_binitie
Score: 92/100
Review: The descriptions in this story were spot on. Great grammar, great build-up - I really have nothing bad to say regarding the use of language and writing style. I think the only flaw I noticed in the book as a whole is the cover. It's quite plain, even though it does relate to the story, so I suggest changing it to a more eye-catching one.
2nd place:
"The Heartbreak Clause" by thereshewrote
Score: 90/100
Review: I loved the story, it was written very well, the characters were likeable but flawed, the story had a straight plot and I couldn't even find one plot hole. A few points were lost over the use of some sort of trope and the slight lack of creativity when it comes to the title and cover.
3rd place:
"In between the lines" by caCrisostomo
Score: 88.5/100
Review: The story was very original and very different from the other books I read. It was a little hard to get into and some parts seemed a little stretched, but overall it was a work of art!
Runners-up:
4. "A Storm on the Mountain" by amaranthinepoetry
Score: 88/100
Review: The blurb is very well written, and the story has an above-average book cover. The title fits the story's plot. The plot was slower but went much more in-depth, which made it a lot more interesting. The story is very well written, minimal spelling and grammatical errors. The book is from ONC 2020, so the prompt is not original but did an amazing job making it their own and being very creative. The writing style is very elegant and descriptive, slightly confusing at times. The main character was described beautifully, and also described his personality. The message from the story, according to me, is to treat others the way you would like to be treated.5. "Goddess Of Evil" by JosieJosette
Score: 87/100
Review: This book's book cover and blurb were gorgeous. Definitely something that would reel in readers and make them stay. I have nothing bad to say about the writer's grammar and writing style. The descriptions are great, though maybe a bit too much sometimes. I suggest easing up on trying to describe every little move that the main character is making so as not to break the flow of the story.
6. "Story of My Life" by RoseQxx
Score: 86/100
Review: I really liked the flow of this story, as well as the way the writer described the main character and her surroundings. The grammar is great and the story flows smoothly as well. Though I do wish the writer would make a few changes regarding the title and the book cover, since it seems kinda plain and not eye-catching at all.
7. "Russian Bastard" by vhentii
Score: 84.5/100
Review: I thought it was a great story! The writing style and straightforward plot really appealed to me. The characters were likeable and believable. The author used multiple other languages that I didn't understand, but since they were translated at the end of each chapter, I could easily keep up with the story. Sometimes the writing style was a little confusing and it wasn't always the most original story, but I think it's definitely worth reading!
8. "In-Between" by -PJO-HP-CarzyChild-
Score: 84/100
Review: The story poorly written blurb, and a below-average cover. The title does not yet make sense with the story but the plot kept me interested, and I have never read something like this. There were small grammar errors and mistakes, but understandable and I was not confused. This is very original and very creative, it's refreshing to see something original. The story has easy to read paragraphs and minimal grammar errors. The author portrayed and described characters in-depth, including personality and traits. The story is very easy to read, no message yet to be seen.
9. "The Golden Seal" by FParungao
Score: 82.5/100
Review: I loved the story, the characters and the drawings that it included. I did think the chapters were a little too short for me to fully get the plot and I didn't really see where it was going yet, but overall I really enjoyed it!
10. "Loving You, Always" by Selly1010Score: 82/100
Review: The plot was very interesting, and it contains psychological issues that can really pull in a reader. The characterization is really good, you can truly feel the main character's pain and despair. The descriptions are a bit off though, but since the writer is not a native English speaker, I suggest brushing up on sentence structures and a bit of grammar as well.
