Without further ado, here are the winners for Mystery/Thriller:
1st Place:
Hatched by user17450679
Score: 96.5/100
Review: The story seemed totally professional! The author's writing style and descriptive skills brought the story to life, offering vivid scenes and images to the readers. The plot is perfectly developed, with a lot of intrigue and suspense. The characterisation is on point and I do not mean only the protagonists. Each and every character in the story is given a distinct role and personality. The author sure knows how to hook the readers. Just one thing might be the book cover which didn't really appeal to me. But otherwise, it was a great pleasure reading this story!
2nd Place:
Sugar Baby by booklored
Score: 93/100
Review: Firstly, great plot idea! The story introduces and develops the plot at a good pace. And the writing and descriptive skills of the author are very good. The story is intriguing from the start with a quite original plot. The protagonist has also been shaped and constructed perfectly and is brought to life through the author's writing. Incredible work!
3rd Place:
The Blood Pearl by anua24060
Score: 91/100
Review: A very intriguing plot! The suspense and mystery started as from the first chapter and intensified through each new chapter. The author has a good writing style, able to show the scary and mysterious vibe needed. A few spelling and punctuation errors had been noticed, not that they distract the reader from the story. The plot is unpredictable and keeps the readers engaged along the way.
Runners-up:
4. The Culprit's Verdict by Sheann_08
Score: 89/100
Review: The story has the perfect amount of tragedy, mystery and suspense. The author has great writing skills, seen through her descriptions which make the scenes and emotions come alive. The mystery part of the story is seen in several parts throughout the story, keeping the readers engaged and invested in the plot. However, there were a few grammatical, punctuation and syntax problems, though they can easily be polished through editing. Otherwise, nice job on the story!
5. The Fortune Master by aspiring_author365
Score: 84/100
Review: Overall, the story has a nice plot and has potential. The book cover was not the type that can attract a reader's attention as it was a bit plain/simple but the blurb was captivating enough. There were enough details in the story that showed the mystery and intrigue of the story. But in my opinion, which may be subjective, I feel like the protagonist seems like a Mary Sue model. It is almost absurd how she can solve everything quickly, notice something is wrong behind everything she comes across and willing to meet strangers and go somewhere else so quickly. To me, it seemed like she was a puppet in the hands of the author. So I hope to see a more realistic version of her. But the plot idea is great and intriguing and I hope it develops nicely. Well done!
5. Countdown To Inferno by alraposas
Score: 84/100
Review: The story's plot is interesting, with great world-building. Though, in the starting chapters, there seemed to be heavy information to take in. But I understand that it seemed so due to the new political system that was being described. The author has a good writing style, however, there were some parts which were difficult to understand and some parts kept changing verb tenses. But overall, it has a nice plot and seemed better after the first messy chapters that involved the political aspect of the story.
