Chapter 13: Cody’s surprise

Ash’s POV:                                                     

I was playing the drums this morning when suddenly I felt someone breathing behind me but when I wanted to turn around that someone covered my eyes. “Who am I?” Nicki said behind me in a high pitched voice. “I don’t know?” I giggled, “I need a kiss to figure that out” I said. She gave me a peck on the cheek. “A kiss on the mouth?” I begged her and she let go of my eyes. I turned my head to look at her face and gave her a kiss. “Hello sunshine” I smiled “Hi” She sat on my lap and took my drum sticks away. She was trying to do something with them. “Wait I’ll show you” I said and took the sticks. “Look this small drum is called snare and these are the tomtoms. This big one down there is the bass… You put your feet on there… and you hold it like this…” I guided her, “And then you just do it, first the bass then the snare then this one… yeah” She did it, slowly but without any mistakes. “Wow you’re good” I smiled. She was really concentrated and stared at the drums not even noticing what I was saying. She looked so cute, with the sticks in her hands and her beautiful brown eyes looking all “I CAN DO THIS” A streak of her blonde hair fell into her face. I stroke it behind her ear and she smiled, getting out of the rhythm and stopped. Then she stood up, I tried to pull her back on my lap but she pulled me off the chair. “I can do this” She sat on the chair and started playing the drums. “Sing something to the rhythm you just showed me” She smiled. Nicki started drumming. I started singing, “I think you’re pretty, without any make-up on, I think you’re funny, when I tell the punchline wrong, I know you get me, so I let my walls come down

She drummed all the way through the song. “Your SOO good Nicki” I said, amazed how she could drum all the way through the song. “Ashton, your voice is amazing” Nicki looked at me. “You’re amazing” I said and kissed her.

We spent the day drumming, going on walks with blueberry, eating and having fun. Around 10pm she said she had to go home, she still had to pack her stuff for the part of the tour where the girls would join us and the 1D boys. So I brought her home, since Michael and Stella already were away.

Cody’s POV:

I got my suitcase and made my way out of the London airport. I was here for a week, since I would have a writing session here with some of the best writers in the world.

But first I head to my hotel, unpacked stuff and then made my way to Nicki’s apartment. Finally I would be able to see her again. I was really excited to be able to hug her again. I took a taxi to her apartment, I knew the address but not the way to get there, and after about 15 minutes I arrived. I paid, got out and went off to ring the doorbell. I took one last look in the mirror and looked if my hair and my outfit was alright. I wanted to look as good as possible seeing Nicki again after so long. After going through my hair again, I rang the doorbell. Sina opened the door. “Cody?!” She asked me surprised. I’ve met all of Nicki’s roommates one time, and I also saw them when I skyped with Nicki, and they were with her. “What are you doing here?” She asked me and gave me a quick hug. “I have a writing session here the next week, I wanted to surprise Nicki.” I explained and looked behind Sina, to see if I could spot her. “Uhm actually…” Rachel cut Sina off by saying “Cody?! What are you doing here? Hi!” and also giving me a quick hug. Then Diana came and did the exact same thing. “Heyyy” I said. “So, I wanted to surprise Nicki… isn’t she here?” I asked. “Uhm… She is actually at the 5SOS house at the moment.“ Diana said. “Oh… is she with her boyfriend?” I asked, and I felt my tummy aching, saying that. “Yeah with Ashton” Sina said, “Actually do you wanna come in and eat dinner with us?” She asked me and I got inside.

We ate dinner and after watching TV with the girls and chatting with them the door opened. I jumped up, hoping it was Nicki, but it was Stella waving her boyfriend goodbye. “Hey guys” She came inside happily and then noticed me, “Oh hey, Cody?! What are you doing here?” She asked me and hugged me. I explained for the 3rd time that I wanted to surprise Nicki. After 2 hours, when I already wanted to give up and leave, the door opened again. “NICKI!” I screamed and ran to hug her. “Cody?!” She asked surprised and then I tightly hugged her. She hugged me back. “Surprise!” I said and gave her a kiss on the cheek. “How are you my angel?” I asked her, then I noticed Ashton standing in the doorframe. “Oh hello” I said. “You must be Ashton” “I’m her boyfriend. And you are Cody… Well Nicki, I have to go… I’ll see you tomorrow or the day after for the tour.” Ashton said and pulled Nicki over to give her a long kiss. I wanted to throw up somewhere. I should be the one kissing her. “Bye!” she waved him goodbye.

“What tour?” I asked her when he was away. “we’re going on tour with one direction and 5sos for the british part.” Nicki said, pulling me inside. “How long is that gonna be?” I asked her. “About 2 weeks” She said smiling, “It’s gonna be really funny!” “But Nicki… I’m staying for one week… and your last day here is tomorrow…” I said. “Oh no” Nicki’s eyes got really sad. “Well… I guess I’m going to help you pack tomorrow.” I said, “We’ll have a great time” I tried to make her happy again, leaving. “Okay bye cody, see you tomorrow” She gave me a long hug.

When I came back next day, after lunch Niall, Harry and Zayn from One Direction were hanging around in the girls house. The girls introduced us to each other, and Nicki told me that the 5SOS boys (only Michael and Ashton) were coming around later in the evening. I had to be back at the studio at 5pm and it was now 2pm. Harry was sitting around in the living room near the door to the kitchen, where Diana was hurrying around to get the food in the fridge and throwing it away. Harry was singing to the music blasting from the boxes, Zayn was leaning in the door frame of Rachel’s room. She was sitting on the floor “I don’t even know what to take with me” She said. Diana was already finished with packing. When I looked into Sina’s room, Niall was laying in bed, watching Sina packing some stuff. They were both talking and laughing very loud and singing from time to time when they knew the lyrics. Nicki pulled me in her room and pushed me on her bed. She told me a lot, we were laughing about things we did in Australia and she was packing stuff the whole time.

The time passed too quickly, I had to leave too early. I told everyone to have a good time at tour and said bye.
