Water

16 3 2

The waves crashe against the rocks
And I watch it crumble
The water is unforgiving and cold
It swallows the boulders
And spits out the bones

The ships that are lost
With the children who wander
I watch you drown
And cannot save you.
I see your shadow walk the shore

I see a little girl hold your hand
There are no foot prints
That's normal
none who roam at night leave them
I watch you fade away,
And race down to the shore

I see the waves crash
And see the ships sink
I hear the screams, yet cannot help
The water is unforgiving
And so I watch you from my window
And wait for my day to come

I watch as someone walks
Calling out your name,
It cannot be me, I'm watching from my window
There are no footprints
I watch as they fade, and feel my eyes close

It stings as I hit the waves
The water is always cold
The rocks are sharp
The lake surrounds me
And I close my eyes one last time

I wake at the shore, and I see you
We walk, no footprints to be seen
And we watch as more join
And we try to help

We have become the waves
We are the crashing against the rocks
We are the sibling ships
We are the children wandering the shore

The water is unforgiving
