*Michelle’s POV*

Walking into the house I heard soft cried coming from the living room. When I went to check it out I found my little boy sitting on the couch with his head on his knees crying his little eyes out.

“Harvey, baby, what’s wrong?” As soon as he heard my voice he lifted his little head and ran straight into my arms.

“Mommy, when’s daddy coming home?” He asked me with huge blue-green, watery eyes. Anger and confusion arose inside of me.

“You’re dad’s not home?” I asked him trying really hard to compose myself for Harvey’s sake.

“He said he will bring ice-cream, but daddy’s been gone for so long…” With that said the front door opened.

“Harvey, I brought ice-cream!” James’ voice echoed through the house.

“Daddy!” Harvey yelled in my ear and kicked my sides with excitement. I heard footsteps coming towards the living room, where I sat on the couch waiting patiently.

“Harvey, where are you-” James stopped dead in his tracks when he saw me and I just watched him.

“Harvey, baby. Go to your room quickly. Mommy and daddy has to talk about grown up things.” I whispered to him and he just smiled at me in return.

“Mommy loves you. Now go…” I said laughing. This earned me a hug and a kiss from him and then he ran off down the hall.

“James, what were you doing?” I asked a lot more serious now. James swallowed then looked at me with a guilty look.

“I went to get ice-cream.” He lifted the bag as proof.

“And why was Harvey left alone?” I asked crossing my arms over my chest.

“I was gone for only a minute. Calm down.” James said walking towards me slowly. He sat next to me, ready to hug me when the overwhelming smell of cheap perfume hit my nostrils. It kind of smelled like those lip-glosses you get for kids, the strawberry flavour, only it’s not completely strawberry.

“You smell like you had spent the night at a whore house.” I dead panned and stood up.

“Really, James? You’d rather sleep with some Barbie doll than your own wife?” He remained quiet and looked down at the floor.

“Who is she? Is she prettier than me?” I asked, my heart beating a million beats per minute. I was beyond furious.

“Karen. We worked together. It won’t happen again, I pro-”

“Don’t finish that sentence. You and I both know that’s bullshit. Once a liar, always a liar.”

“I promised you once and I broke it, but this time I won’t break it again. Please just give me one more chance. Michelle, I love you and I can’t replace you with anyone.” I started applauding him slowly which only earned me a confused look from James.

“What a lovely speech, really. I’d give you maybe an eight out of ten. You’re just missing the honesty and actuality.”

“Michelle, I’m serious-”

“Bullshit, James. You’re not serious. If you were you wouldn’t have cheated on me in the first place.”

“I’m not the only one who cheated. You also fucked up. I forgave you, why can’t you just do the same?”

“Fuck you! You really want to play that card? You fucked up first James.”

“Yeah, and then you did-”

I put my hand up in the air to stop him.

“Just get your shit and fuck off.” I walked towards the hall but stopped for a second looking back at him. “I’m going to check on my son. I want you back by the time I’m back.”

Me and James both signed the divorce papers and we agreed that Harvey should stay with me until the court decides otherwise. Which in my opinion might not happen any time soon.
