The afternoon came along much quicker than I thought and due to my lack of focus I ended up wearing the same dress I did when I left Michelle’s place earlier when my mom came home.
I didn’t want to change cause it smelled like her. Plus it looked so good on me. It’s kinda tight due to the fact that Michelle’s literally just skin and bone. So it sat tight against my curves.
“Honey, I’m home!” Mom called out and I heard footsteps coming up to my room. A few moments later there was a knock on my door and then the door opened revealing my mother all dolled up.
“Mom, why are you all dressed up and fancy?” I said in my most innocent voice.
She just smiled and then walked over to me. “I could ask you the same thing. Or we could go get dinner at some fancy restaurant?” she smirked and then slowly walked towards the door.
“Come on. Hurry up. I’ll be waiting downstairs.” She placed her hand on the door handle and then looked back at me. “Oh, keep that dress on. It looks pretty.” And with that she disappeared downstairs.
I added some mascara, red lipstick (seeing how the dress is red) and some eyeliner then just straightened my long blonde hair. Looking myself over in the mirror I noticed how much I looked like my mom. She was such a beautiful woman so I felt flattered.
I threw on some black stilettos and went downstairs to find the house empty. Opening the front door I saw my mom outside standing in the street talking to some guy. It didn’t seem too important so I got in the car and waited for her to come.
“Ready?” she asked sliding onto the driver’s seat and starting the car.

We had the most amazing dinner and my mom told me all about her new job promotion and how it’ll allow her to get more paid vacations. I was so excited to tell her about Michelle and my amazing weekend when reality kicked in.
Michelle is married. To Mr. Davenport and they have the most amazing little boy.
Does that mean that I helped her cheat? Was I a bad person? Why did it feel so right if it was so wrong?
“Penny for your thoughts sweetheart?” My mom asked reaching out to take my hand in hers. She squeezed it lightly and then smiled at me. She truly was the most amazing person ever.
“Just… thinking of all the fun things we could do together on all your new vacation days.” I lied with a smile. Hiding away all of my troubled thoughts.

The school week went by fairly quickly and yet again I found myself standing in front of the oh so familiar white wooden door.
My heart was beating so fast I swear it’ll explode. What do I say? Should I ask her how her week was? Make small talk? What am I even doing here? I should go…
I turned to leave when the door opened. Michelle appeared in the doorway looking quite shocked at the sight of me.
“Hey… I, uhm.” I tried thinking but all I could think of was her gorgeous lips on mine.
“Honey, who’s at the door?” James came out behind her. He turned her around and gave her a sloppy kiss then looked at me with a smile.
I swear I may have puked a little in my mouth.
“Oh, hello, Lily. What a nice surprise.” He greeted me and I just couldn’t say anything. I was just so shocked and confused. Lost even. Then those thoughts of the other night came flooding back.
“Harvey is at my brother’s again so we don’t really need a babysitter this weekend. But thanks for coming over.” James said then disappeared back into the house. Michelle just looked after him and then to me with saddened eyes.
“Could we talk please?” I asked her with a cracking voice. She nodded and then came out of the doorway and closed the door.
“What’s wrong dear?” She asked sounding genuinely concerned.
“I… wha-what are we?” I asked teary eyed. She gave me a pout and then gently wiped then fallen tear from my cheek.
“You’re my baby sitter…” She started but that was all I needed to hear. Tears fell down my cheeks and my heart raced.
“That’s what I am? Last weekend… when we… that doesn’t mean anything to you?” I cried.
Before she had the chance to answer I took my chance to run. I didn’t need any of this pain. I couldn’t handle having my heart broken by such a beautiful person.

I found myself sitting on a bench in the park just watching the rain drops fall onto the ground. Listening to the pitter-patter the drops make as the land. The fact that I was soaked and freezing somehow didn’t seem to matter.
I felt used. Dirty. Like some old abandoned playground.
Was this really it? Was this what it felt like to have your heart broken? She was the first woman I ever fell for. She was the only woman I’ve ever fallen in love with.
The cold started to feel like my safe place. Like nothing could hurt me here.
A car stopped behind me and I didn’t bother looking around. I didn’t need a stranger to feel sorry for me.
“Lily. Get in my car and out of the rain.” The accent gave her away and made me feel mad all over again.
“Why? So I could be used again?” I just sat in the same position. I refuse to move.
A warm hand on my cold shoulder made me jump. When did she even get out of the car?
“Leave me alone.” I said after collecting myself again. “I don’t want to see you ever. I don’t want to speak to you-“ I was silenced by her soft lips on mine. Our mouths moved in unison and I couldn’t help but grow soft at this. She knew exactly how to make my day.
Pulling away she smiled and I was speechless all over again.
