*Michelle’s POV*

“Derek. Did something happen?” I asked getting worried. Maybe leaving James to run after Lily was a bad idea…

“Mickey… Harvey fell… he’s in the hospital. Get here as soon as you can. He’s refusing to get stitches until he sees you-” My phone fell at this point and I sped off towards the local hospital.

How could I have been this reckless?  I have a family. I have a kid… and now he’s in the hospital and looking for me. Where am I? At a girl’s house cause I just couldn’t look past this feeling in my chest whenever I looked at her…

“Hello. I’m looking for my son, Harvey Davenport. He’s two years old, blonde hair…” the receptionist looked at me with big eyes and then pointed down the hall.

I thanked her and ran down the hall until Derek came into view.

“Where is he? Where’s my son?!” I yelled at him and I heard Harvey’s little voice yelling in agony inside the opposite room.

I yanked the door open and saw my little boy  being pinned down onto the bed by four nurses. Blood came oozing down his forehead and out of his nose.

“Mama!” he yelled and all four nurses looked over to me in unison.

*Lily’s POV*

I watched Michelle slip away with tears in her eyes. Disappointed I looked back at my mother. I know that she was waiting for me to say ‘yes ma’am’ like I always do but I couldn’t. Not after that.

She won’t even remember yelling at me in the morning or even meeting Michelle, but I’ll remember. That’s the thing they don’t tell you about bipolar disorder.

My mother was diagnosed with it when I was only 10. I was told to never take what she says too seriously and to give her meds every day. I did. Until I forgot one day and she started beating me. From that day on she didn’t take her medication ever again. She refuses to see a doctor and keeps on telling me that she’s fine.

“Did I make myself clear?!” She yelled holding her fist ready to launch into my stomach again.

“You could beat me black and blue but you can’t take her away from me. I love her…” I cried out. This didn’t go well.

One punch became two. And two became five. Eventually I stopped counting.

*Michelle’s POV*

I held Harvey in my arms safely as the nurse cleaned him up and gave him two stitches. He sat like a champ and took them and that made me wonder what he did in the first place. Derek never told me and I didn’t even speak to James when I walked in.

Speaking of the devil, James knocked on the open door leaning against the doorframe.

“May I have a word with you please?” He asked in a monotone and with that said Derek entered and sat next to me taking Harvey from my hands.

“I guess I don’t really have a choice huh?” I mumbled and walked into the hallway behind him.

“Why did you leave earlier?” James asked looking slightly worried. His big green eyes pleading with mine.

“I needed some space James.” I said coldly.

“What happened to us?” James asked me sadly. He took my hands in his and I felt tears forming in my eyes.

The sad truth is that I never fell out of love with James. To be completely honest, I don’t think I ever really, truly loved him. Not the way he loved me. Not the way I felt about Lily. Tears escaped my eyelids and I couldn’t find a way to respond to James’ question without breaking his heart.

James let go of my hands and the next thing I knew he had his arms wrapped around me. Holding me securely. I cried my eyes out in his arms and I wasn’t even completely sure why. On one side it was because of how much I love Lily and on the other side it could be because I don’t want to break James’ heart.

I pulled away slowly and looked up into those olive green eyes. “James, I have to tell you something and You wont like what I have to say… I completely understand if you never want to see me again…” I started.

James looked at me bewildered and I felt like my whole world is about to come crumbling down.

“James. I had an affair.” Tears fell from my eyes. I looked up into his watery olive green ones
