Kanan and Ezra stepped back as me and The Inquisitor advanced towards them.
"You take Celeste, I'll take The Inquisitor." Kanan said, Ezra nodded but I could see the fear deep in his blue eyes.
"Ezra, we don't have to fight each other. We can be on the same side." I said, still keeping my saber out.
"How?"
"Join the Empire. They'll take care of you like they did for me. We can be your new family. Leave the Ghost crew behind."
"N-no, Celeste, come back to us. This isn't you." He stuttered. Why isn't this working? I'm using everything that the Inquisitor said would work.
"This is the new me. Ezra, together, we could become the Empire. Restore peace to the galaxy. You, me, Kanan, Hera, Zeb, Sabine, Chopper, all of us."
"I know what that feels like, Celeste. To want to just end it all. But this isn't peace. Do you know how many lives the Inquisitor's blade has taken? Do you want that?" I froze, just standing there.
"It won't be like that. Why can't you just open your eyes!? See what's right in front of you, Ezra! We're only a few people, we can't make a difference. With the Empire's help, I can take down the Sith-Lord that killed my parents."
"Don't you see, Celeste? The Sith-Lord is with the Empire. After this they'll kill you!"
My eyes widened with surprise. The Inquisitor lied to me. No, don't lose your grip! You're so close. Bring the rebellion here. Once you have control you can forget about The Inquisitor. Ezra scoffed, breaking me out of my thoughts.
"You're just like one of them. You don't even care about the lies... you just want the power. Celeste, you're a monster."
"I'm the monster? No, Ezra, you are. Getting in the way to restore the peace. If you're against me, then my fight is with you now. Not the Empire." Suddenly the violet light all around us turned to crimson. My blood red blades were hot like my anger was. The hatred was all around me. I lunged at Ezra, one blade clashing with his as the other scorched the floor. I thrust my hand out, forcing him into the wall.
"Again? You guys just love the same moves." Ezra tried to joke, but his voice was too raw with emotion for it to be funny. Not allowing him time to recover, I put the blade close to his neck.
You can't kill him.
The saber flickered.
No, he could be of use to the Empire.
They continued to flicker from red to violet.
Ezra seized his opportunity. Pushing me off of him and running the other direction. He was probably looking for the high ground. But I wouldn't let him. I threw my lightsaber in his direction. It spun in the air, sparks flying everywhere as it tore through the walls. I could practically feel the fear radiating off of him. But with the fear there was a darkness, a sadness. Ezra whipped around, just barely hitting the lightsaber in time for it to change direction. I called the saber back to me. It's cool, metal hilt meeting my gloved hand.
"I can't believe I called you family, Ezra. When really, it's just like the Inquisitor said. You were using me. I gave you the upper hand. I trusted you." I growled,
"We are your family. Please, come back to us."
"No, Ezra, it's too late for that." With a hard swing, I knocked his saber out of his hands. I raised my saber above my head, about to give the final blow.
"Celeste, stop!" I froze, Kanan's voice coming from behind.
"If you want to fight- fight me! He did nothing wrong."
"Kanan, no." Ezra pleaded, trying to reach for his saber. With a swift kick, the lightsaber flew across the room.
"Fine." I hissed, turning to face him. He looked different, it wasn't the stormtrooper armor he wore, it was his face. His face was filled with emotions I couldn't place. Don't let him get to you. Fight him! Take your revenge. I thought, I held my lightsaber tightly in my gloves grip. Waiting for him to make the first move. Unexpectedly, he reached for his blaster, directing his shots at me. I easily deflected them. Suddenly he was right in front of me, pushing back on my saber. I tried to push back but he was stronger than me.
Think, Celeste, think. With flick of my wrist the double-sided lightsaber turned into two single blades. Leaping over his head, I landed perfectly behind him. The anger and hate blinded me, I moved to slash his back. Not realizing that Ezra was right behind me. His hands gripped my forearms, stopping my attack. My lightsabers retracted back into their hilts, dropping to the floor.
Tough situation. When in doubt, use the force. I closed my eyes, imagining Kanan and Ezra flying backwards. My anger and my hate overwhelmed my thoughts. So much so I started imagining them gasping for breath as they were choked by an invisible force. I burst my eyes open to see the floor beneath me cracked in multiple places. The largest cracks were the flight path of Ezra and Kanan. My lightsabers were suddenly in my hands again. I was getting out of control. But with that I was becoming stronger than ever. I made strides towards Kanan, blades dragging across the floor. I thrust my hand out, lifting him off the ground.
"Any last words, Master?" I mocked, putting the blade close to his neck.
"Your Father."
"What about him?" I snapped, watching as Ezra struggled to get up.
"I fought with your father in the Clone Wars. He wouldn't have wanted this, Celeste."
"You are mistaken, you don't know my Father."
"Finlay Greys was expelled from the Jedi Order after they found out about Holly Greys and their unborn child. Before Order 66. That's how he escaped." I narrowed my eyes at him.
"When I fought with him. He saved me and my Master. He always talked about if the Jedi were allowed to have attachments that he would have a child and raise them in the ways of the force. The ways of the light. Not the dark, Celeste. This isn't what Finlay wanted. There's another way. We can bring back the peace your father fought so hard for."
I gasped, nothing made sense anymore. The lines between the dark and the light had blurred. I didn't know which was which. I turned the lightsaber off. Falling to my knees, I released Kanan from my grip.
"I'm so sorry, Kanan."
"It's okay. It's okay. Come here." He extended his arms out, inviting me to his arms. A hug of forgiveness.
"I'm sorry... I can't stay."
"What do you mean?"
"I can't stay knowing I have the power to hurt my friends like that." I said, tears finally streaming down my cheeks.
"We can fix that. I can teach you how to control it." Kanan said, he put a hand on my shoulder. Making me stop in my tracks.
"What about Ezra? You're like a sibling to him." I shrugged his hand off my shoulder, tears twinkling in the starlight.
"I know. I'm so so sorry."
