"Better go catch her."
"Me?"
"Who else?"
"Why don't you do it?"
"Because you two are about the same age, you can sympathize, now go." Kanan said, at that I walked over to the nose gun. In the last few days I had learned a lot about Celeste. Kanan went to wake her up for Jedi training the first day, only to learn that she slept with a blaster under her pillow and was not afraid to shoot. Since then Kanan has sent me to get shot at, she never hit us once. My guess was she was trying to miss. But that only happened when she slept in. Other times she would be awake early and waiting for me and Kanan. I knocked on the door frame, Celeste sitting in the chair, her back turned to me.
"Sorry for the outburst, Master."
"Wow, I'm a master now?" I teased, she spun the chair around to face me, her expression hardening before turning back around.
"Why are you here?" She said flatly, her hand hovering over her blaster to symbolize her patience was running out.
"Just checking on you."
"Well, I'm fine."
"You don't seem fine." I said, leaning up against the door frame.
"You don't know me."
"If you let people know you, we could help you."
There was an awkward silence, her hand resting on her lap instead of threatening to shoot me."I'll leave you alone now." I got ready to walk away when she finally started to talk.
"My Dad, it all makes sense now, he was a Jedi."
"A Jedi?""The Sith-Lord... he fought so hard. But in the end, he died right in front of me. I saw the fear in his eyes as the Sith struck him down. My Mom took me and ran. We did run for a while. Jumping from planet to planet. She died at the hands of the same Sith-Lord." I could see her pale blue eyes turning glassy.
"I ran to my Uncle, he gave me a blaster, few credits and sent me off on a space shuttle. I've seen so many bad things done with the force that it's hard to look at the good." I gripped her shoulder, trying to copy Kanan's methods of comforting.
"I'm sorry. My parents were taken when I was little. I was fending for myself on the streets until the Ghost Crew took me in."
"I'm afraid that the people I want to help will just end up being the people I hurt."
"You can't help them if you're too afraid to hurt them. Celeste, don't let your fear stop you from doing what's right." She didn't say anything, she just continued to look at the stars.
"Thanks, Ezra, for listening to me."
"No problem. The Ghost crew isn't just a team, it's a family. And you're part of our family now."
