Chapter Fourteen
My eyes tightened as I shifted a little. There was a light hitting my face and making my sight red from behind my closed lids. The warmth spread out from my eyes to my forehead where the warmth became a burning feeling. A sore feeling.
As the light moved over my face and onto my left cheek bone, the searing type of pain took over. My breath sucked in at this feeling. My mind wasn't recalling the reason why I was feeling pain. What could have happen to me?
Slowly my eyes opened, however the left eye didn't open the whole way. It looked to be swollen and puffy around the outside eye socket. My whole left side of my face throbbed a bit as I woke up fully.
Then I remembered...
I was alive!! But panic started to set in knowing that someone really tried to kill me. That truck was out to demolish my car with me inside. Another vehicle had shoved me into the path of that truck too.
What the hell?!?!?!?!?!
Why would anyone want me dead? I've done nothing to anyone to warrant this. I live a simple life. I help whomever I can if I have the means to. I keep to myself and don't cause ripples. Ripples just cause too much drama in people's lives.
The bed shifted next to me and I sucked in another breath as pain shot from my right hip now. Ian came into my eye sight and frowned. He moved out of sight for a moment before something cool pressed into my side. Relief came to the pain from that one spot.
He gently cupped my jaw so he didn't hurt me and gave me a tight smile. A smile full of love, yet pain at seeing me like this. "Welcome back my love."
I tried to smile back at him, but stopped when pain and soreness came to me. I wished I could return his smile, but I will just have to settle for showing it through my eyes for the time being. I knew he could feel how much I loved him even hurt like I am.
"What can I get you my love to help you?"
"Don't fret her dear boy." Ian looked up as I heard Jani, one of the council members, come from what sounded like the doorway.
Ian sat back a little bit on the bed and his hand slipped away from my jaw. "What are you doing here?"
There was a sound of heels clicking on his bamboo floor as she entered his bedroom. I could tell now that I was at his place because of the ceiling I could now see after he moved away. They must have brought me here after the accident to recover on pack lands. Here I would be safer than anywhere else in the world because I was Ian's mate and part of the pack by pack law.
I felt the coolness of Jani's magic as my shoulders gently lifted up and pillows slipped in behind me. Once I was settled into a new position on Ian's bed, I could fully see Jani and all her Lady of the Lake style beauty standing at the foot of the bed. In her right hand was a tea cup on a saucer that was steaming softly. Her left hand had an aqua glow about it that was dying down.
She turned to Ian and presented the cup of tea. "This tea will help speed up healing her physical pain and reduce any swelling."
Ian took the tea from her. "Thank you."
"Be sure she drinks it all." She looked at me. "We'll discuss what happened when you are well again. An attack on one of our kind of this scale will not be left unanswered for." She bowed her head to us before the air around her changed to look like it became ripples in a pond. She really was like the lady of the lake with how her magic worked.
Ian sighed. "I'm glad she is on our side."
I frowned as he brought the tea over to me. "Are others against us being together, other than my Grandmother?"
