Chapter Fifteen
Looking up from the beadwork I just finished and smiled at my own handiwork. To think I had only two more hours of beadwork to do till this masquerade ball gown will be complete was so heartwarming. This passed week had gone by nicely as I worked on Nina's gown.
Thanks to the accident, I lost my job which wasn't any real shock. Even with images of my battered body and a fudged doctor's note from a pack doctor, I was still fired. I wasn't too heart broken about it as I wasn't loving my job anyways. There was actually a weight lifted knowing I was free to work on my designing.
There was even a pack lawyer that has been working to get me my PTO so I still get paid. As it wasn't my fault for the accident and everyone did everything in their power to preserve my job, I shouldn't have been fired in the first place. The lawyer even stated that my firing was against labor laws for our state. If I wanted to, which I'm not going to, I could sue them for wrongful firing.
After finding out that I was fired from work, Ian asked me to move in with him fully. I had thought there would have been some panic in doing so, but there wasn't. I actually agreed as I did feel more at home here than at my own place. We were in the process of figuring out all the details that comes with me agreeing to the move.
Looking around, I smiled at how the office already has been changed to be partially my sewing office and he had his desk on the other side of the room. The walk-in closet of this room was about to be converted into a storage area for the things I'd need for all sorts of projects. If Ian is right, I'd have lots of interest in my design work after Nina wears this gown to the ball.
The door to the office opened and Ian smiled coming in with a glass of sweet and crisp white wine that was my favorite right now for when I've been working on this project. "I think it's time for a break."
I moved away from the gown smiling back at him. "You're a mindreader. I was just thinking about going up for a break."
He handed me my glass of wine and looked at the gown. "Nearly done?"
I nodded taking a sip. "Next she'll just need to come over and do the final fitting before I'm done." Looking up at him, I bit my lip. "You think she'll like it?"
He kissed my forehead. "She'll love it." Hand in hand, we went upstairs to where he had lunch done already.
Over the past week, we've been trading off who was cooking as if we'd been doing this for years. As Ian hasn't had to go anywhere but to Nina's house, it was nice having him around so much. We were finding an amazing balance living together.
The subject of my family hasn't been touched on for the past week. The knowledge knowing that my mother had lied about my father all these years had been a painful thing to find out. Then there was the fact that I had an uncle out there that found out I was alive and sought to kill me so he could kill my father to take a throne was just too much to try and understand right now. I took hold of the opportunity to get lost in a project to keep from fully thinking about that part of my life.
Nina was made aware of the development of my family, but the only thing she said was that she was there if I wanted to talk about it. She said she had been in a similar situation and could be someone to talk to about it. Nina said that she didn't know she was a royal till she was seventeen. It was nice to know that I had someone that had been through something similar. We didn't know what I was a princess of just yet however.
Holding Ian's hand as we went upstairs for lunch made me not care at all about what I really was. With him, he didn't treat me any different. He's even told me that he'd always love me no matter if I was a princess or not because I was the queen of his heart from the moment we first met. There was nothing that could ever come to light that would change anything for him.
