                            Chapter Thirteen

                    ~~Deen's Point of View~~

Pushing my bike as fast as I could, I tried my best to keep up with Shane as he didn't let up his accelerator of his bike. A few of the boys fell behind and I knew they were heading to the main pack house as that was what our protocol was. There was only two guys that were as fast as us on the bikes and they were about a quarter of a mile behind me trying their hardest to keep up.

As we passed into the Mooney direct territory, I was very confused. This was extremely far away from the crash scene. She couldn't have been taken here, and Shane hadn't looked back at the tracker since he hopped onto his bike.

More stranger was when he took the sharp turn down the driveway that lead directly to Ian's house that was on the edge of the Mooney direct property. I knew it so well after being with this pack for as many years as I have been. There had been a few times, Ian had offered his place to our small pack while he was away with Nina.

The moment we broke through the trees and saw the front of the house, my mind went into shock. Reika was here, but she was lying on the ground just outside Ian's front step. There was this bubble of golden light twisting and swirling all around her. A short figure was crouched over her and what looked like poking at the bubble.

Shane came to a screeching halt near her and the figure just looked up as if this was normal. The figure rose up to stand only about four foot ten inches to tell he was short as a full grown man. His pale golden eyes took us in and grunted as if unimpressed with us for some reason.

He sighed. "Whatever..." He waved his hand around him and a mist wrapped around him till his blue hair was the last thing that was around till the mist consumed it too. It looked like he could care less that Reika was still wrapped up in this golden bubble.

Was he the one that put her in there or was it someone else? Was this Reika's doing to heal from her injuries sustained during the accident?

Making our way over to Reika, I saw how she was. There was purpling along her left side and a gash over her forehead. Looking closer, I noticed that the gash was slowly closing up. This golden bubble must be here to not just protect her, but aid in the mending of her wounds.

"This doesn't look like the work of whatever that guy was." Shane pulled out his phone and took a short video of how Reika was, and sent that video to a friend of ours.

His phone rang a few moments later and he spoke briefly with someone we had met on the road about three years ago. Someone who knew more about the otherworldly supernatural than we did as he was one. An elven prince to be precise when we met him.

Shane didn't say anything the whole time our friend was talking. It wasn't something out of the ordinary for those two. Our friend loved to keep us well informed of anything we might need to know. Though, there were only a few times that Shane would contact him out of the blue like we just had to do.

Then Shane's face changed to an expression I never saw. His eyebrows were sky high to the highest clouds in the sky, and how jaw dropped down. He was utterly shocked with what our friend had been telling him on the phone. The expression continued and I knew our friend hadn't stopped talking to Shane about whatever was around Reika.

"How long will she be in this state?" Shane turned his eyes onto Reika and listened for about four more minutes.

"Ask him if we can move her?" I folded my arms over my chest and tilted my head to the side. We couldn't just leave her here on the front step for anyone else to see.

Shane nodded and then asked a few questions. This really wasn't a realm of things we dealt with very often, but its been happening more and more recently. With so many more races coming out of their hidings now that the world has accepted our kind, they see that the age had come for all to be free to show who they really are.

He hung up the phone and looked down at Reika. "He said not to move her as she's directly on a lei line. It's fueling her healing."

Then he turned to me with the same look of shock in just his eyes. "Turns out, she's his daughter."

I frowned. "But she is just a witch, right?"

Shaking his head, he moved over to his bike. "She doesn't know as he's been kept away from her by her grandmother. I bet Reika has been made to believe that he abandoned her all this time." He pulled out a set of keys to Ian's place. "He has been trying to keep an eye on her for the past six years through human surveillance companies."

Walking over to the front door, he unlocked it and went inside. I followed behind him. "But that would mean that she's half whatever elf he is and only half witch." There was a thought that hit my mind like a ton of bricks. "That means she's got more magic power than a normal witch."

Shane nodded at me. "I was told that we can't say anything to Reika."

I stopped and narrowed my eyes at him. "She has a right to know."

"Yes love, but it's not our place to tell her. There is one person who Râshin said had to tell Reika the truth about her father."

Râshin was the name of the man that Shane had been talking to and who happens to be Reika's father. He was the crowned prince with a little brother that was openly wanting the throne over Râshin. We had met Râshin when there had been an attempt on his life that we had prevented. Râshin had been so grateful that he helped us so much to learn about all the other races of the world that were hidden even from our kind because we were so close to the humans.

Now thinking about it, Râshin had never talked much about a family. He kept his personal life a bit more secret. We just thought he was keeping that to himself for safety of who his family was besides those of the royal court. Now I realize that there was more going on here than just being secretive about his family. And to be honest, I was never curious about his private life.

I slipped onto a barstool and watched as he unzipped his jacket and then opened the fridge. He pulled out two beers that were always stocked up and brought one over to me. Apparently we were going to be here for a bit.

The other guys were outside watching over Reika. This whole situation was so strange. We may have been doing more and more strange cases, but this was so beyond bizarre.

"And what if her mother never tells her?" Effortlessly, I popped the cap off the bottle and took a huge swig.

Shane shook his head again. "That is their choice."

"But Reika has no choice in any of this. She deserves to know the truth." I was feeling so sorry for that woman for being left in the dark about a part of herself.

Shane placed his half drained beer on the counter of the island and placed his hands on the surface looking at me with sympathy. "I know my love, but we can't interfere in this. Râshin has said under no terms do we inform Reika at all."

I huffed and drank more of my beer. This just didn't seem right. But Shane was also right that it wasn't our place at all to toss that particular bomb shell of knowledge onto Reika. The fact that she was a freaking princess!!

Thinking about the few interactions I've had with her, I wouldn't even know how she would feel about knowing she was a princess. She's so shy and kind, yet she was a bit more proper than you'd see most these days. I had assumed it was something her Grandmother had forced her to do, which might have happened. If you thought about it, it might come more natural for her with her lineage.

"What do we do now?" I looked back to the front door to see the golden bubble shimmering.

"We wait till the bubble dissipates. She'll be fine healing there for now." Shane grimaced. "Right now, I need to inform Ian of what happened."

"Oh boy." I drained the rest of my beer knowing that Ian wasn't going to be too happy that his mate had been hurt and we didn't make it in time to stop it from happening. This was going to be a long conversation with him...
