"No."
"Yes!"
"NO!"
"YES!"
It was the day after the storm and Renjun liked to pretend that it never happened, like the egoist he is, and Jeno, like the egoist's best friend, let him be. He knew about how the smaller hated the way he looked, his bijou body looking like that of a young girl rather than that of an adult male, he absolutely despised it. He hated how everyone saw him as weak and defenceless, he hated how they insulted him and laughed at his expense. That was exactly why he only had a few close friends.
Renjun groaned and rolled his eyes before sitting back up and facing the black-haired boy "Fine," causing Jeno to cheer. Well at least until he heard the rest of the sentence, the elder, now smirking, continued "But! Only if you apply to Lee Enterprise.", and crossed his arms over his chest smugly, looking at the gawking Jeno in front of him.
"W-wait! H-hang on a minute now. I'm doing this for you, why do I have to suffer the consequences for it?!" Jeno exclaimed, to which Renjun only shrugged, a smug smirk still placed on his delicate features.
A little background information on the Lee's, Jeno's family, and Lee Enterprise. Jeno is the second heir to a company named One Shot. It's a very well known fact that Jeno's parents, the current CEO's of One Shot, absolutely despise Lee Enterprise, well, the CEO of Lee Enterprise, Lee Donghyuck.
They were infuriated when the young eighteen year old managed to beat them out for the number one spot only a month after establishing his business. To be fair, their main audience was teenagers, yet they blatantly ignored their teenage son, a.k.a Jeno's ideas on their products. In fact, the public knew next to nothing about the Lee's second son because he was never talked about by his parents. It was as if he didn't exist to the public, and most times, to his parents.
"Oh, come on you can't survive on your parents' money forever", Renjun sighed as he jumped back onto the bed, only to yelp as he landed on his leg.
"Yeah, but they're going to kill me if they find out I'm working for their biggest rival", Jeno spoke, exasperated. He had never met or even seen the Lee Donghyuck that his parents always seethed about at the dinner table, spewing venom with every word that rolled off their tongues and out of their mouths.
Yet, even after knowing about and hearing all the venom his parents had towards the young adult, Jeno could never bring himself to hate the boy, for he had never met him. How could he judge someone purely based on their economic value and his parents' words? He'd have to meet the boy first before developing a judgement on him.
Renjun's features softened, he knew about the way Jeno's parents treated the teenager, how they had practically shunned his entire existence since the day he was born. Although the boy called them his parents, his real parental figures, the ones who had been there for him his entire life, were his maids.
They were the reason he had grown into the wonderful person he was today, but, although he always tried to keep a smile on his face, that smile that brightened peoples moods as he simply passed by, that smile that lit the skies and made girls trip over their own feet in a daze, wasn't always real. If you looked closely, you would find that although the smile turned his eyes into beautiful crescents that would accentuate his features even more, it did not reach his eyes. Those gorgeous, empty, lonely, waiting, eyes.
The boy was empty inside. He felt alone. He couldn't help it, he knew that there were people who cared for him and loved him, but he couldn't help but yearn for the love of those who couldn't. His parents. He did everything, he had a high distinction, he had even skipped ahead and left both high school and university early with perfect grades, only to be ignored and told to do better. He did everything and to everyone who didn't know him personally, he was perfect. His eyes, his hair, his smile, his body, his grades, his personality, his background, his everything.
Yet the people he cared about the most wouldn't bat an eyelash his way. They barely even remembered his name.
Renjun smiled softly as he placed a small hand on the younger's knee, snapping him out of his trance, "Don't worry too much Jen, they won't find out. It's not like they're planning to create a partnership with Lee Enterprise anytime soon." and his soft smile turned into a teasing grin a split-second later, "And plus, I heard the CEO's real' cute!" he stated matter-of-factly, only to be smacked on the shoulder straight after.
Sometimes he's cute and other times I just wanna shove his head into a shredder. Jeno sighed, "You know what? Fine! I'm in if you're in."
