NOT GONNA LIE, chatting your way out of situations and waffling your way through life wasn't just a skill that some people really didn't appreciate.
Trust me when I say this, it was a damn art.
I'd spent far too many hours perfecting the art of talking trash and it had successfully gotten me out of far too many situations to count. I was the king at chatting shit.
So when Prince convinced everyone to go the Great Barrier Reef because the 'view was good', it took me two seconds to call him out of his shitty lying skills. I knew for sure that it was so he could show off how good he was at underwater activities.
That brought us to the present moment. We had decided to have a brief wander about on the coast before we got a boat to the Reef. Later on in the evening, we had tickets to watch Arlo's solo violin performance at the Opera House.
"Talisa, pass Gabriel a pair of goggles will you?" Prince said whilst fitting a diving compass around his wrist. I looked at him in annoyance causing him to snicker.
Was someone really your best friend if they didn't stir shit up for you?
Talisa had been ignoring me for the past week. I'd apologised to her countless times about that night but she still wouldn't have it. Slowly, I had reached the stage where I didn't know what else to do.
Clad in a cheetah print bikini, the green eyed girl moodily handed me a pair. Just when I went to take it from her, she dropped it so that it fell onto the sandy floor.
"Oops," she commented, bending down and picking it up. Not before rubbing it in the dirt so that lots of tiny pebbles got inside and scratched the surface. What the fuck?
She's still pissed at you dude. Give her time.
Despite my thoughts, a part of me thought she was being over dramatic. Nothing had actually ever happened between us. I bit the inside of my cheek silently screaming but tempted to hit my head against a brick. Ignoring the jibe, I pursed my lips. "Thanks."
"Not a problem." Talisa smiled fakely before stalking off to Ashlei.
As soon as she was out of earshot, Prince let out a loud cackle until Arlo elbowed him and told him to shut up. "Fuck, mate! You're in trouble."
I shook my head, my lips twitching upwards. "Yeah very funny. You're not gonna be underwater with rocks piercing your bloody eyes. By the time I come up again, I'll be blind."
Arlo rolled his eyes, his white blonde hair looking crazy soft now that it wasn't suffocated in hair fell. Jheez, how often did this guy condition?
"You'll be fine, Gabriel. I've only been scuba diving once before but it wasn't as bad as I thought."
Actually, I wasn't nervous at all. Instead I was quite excited at how cool it all sounded. Regardless, I shot him an appreciative smile which he didn't replicate. A couple months ago, I'd be offended however I now knew that Arlo had a weird, overly wise presence that seemed to spell out happiness is useless.
"Ah, there they are," Prince called out. I looked into the distance and saw two figures walking towards the rocks that the three of us had been sitting on. The ambient sun illuminated Louisa's skin as she elegantly ambled forwards.
Louisa has been furious after I'd deliberately pissed Logan off yet once I'd explained to her that he'd threatened me using my Nanna, she had vaguely understood where I was coming from.
