Adora's POV
Adora sat, beside Catra. Catra sat beside Scorpia and Glimmer was in passenger while Bow rode in the back with Melog. Catra felt uncomfortable being right next to her ex girlfriend who seemed upset about it still. "So what's everybody's plans when we get there?" Adora awkwardly asked, Catra stayed quiet while Glimmer and Perfuma went on rants about swimming. Scorpia looked over longingly at Catra who was sitting pretty close to Adora. "Remember when we'd all play tag and end up chasing Kyle?" Adora asked Catra quietly. The catgirl was not in the mood to talk, "Not now Adora." She sternly said and leaned her head back. Scorpia casted an unreadable look at Adora before she struggled to rummage through her suitcase before pulling out a knitted sweater. "I made this for you," she said with an awkward smile. The sweater read 'Wildcat', her nickname for the catgirl. Adora shrank mentally and rested her head against the window. Maybe I should visit the orphanage over the holidays around Christmas or Thanksgiving. Adora randomly thought, tuning out Catra and Scorpia's small talk. Adora went to go grab her phone and earbuds but felt nothing in her pocket. "Shit!" She exclaimed accidentally. She saw everyone's heads except for Perfuma's head turn to look at her. "Uhh, something the matter..?" Glimmer asked to which Adora just shrank mentally even more before letting out a sigh, "Yeah I just forgot my phone in my car, that's all. I'll be okay, I brought books to read." She muttered and everyone went back to what they were doing.
It was night by the time they got to the beach house. "Everyone hurry up and pick your rooms!" Perfuma announced and still stood smiling kindly as everyone rushed up the stairs to pick their rooms. Adora chose a rather spacey one with a decently sized bed at the end of the hall. She smiled and collapsed on the bed and sighed tiredly before getting back up to unpack her things. Adora took out her books and placed them on the nightstand beside her bed before taking out her night clothes. She pulled off her shirt and didn't hear the door open, "Hey Adora-" Catra paused when she saw a shirtless Adora. Her face turned very red as Adora turned to look at her before shouting in surprise and covering herself up with the night shirt she was going to put on. "H-hey.." Adora said awkwardly as she hurriedly pulled on the shirt. "I was just coming to see your room, that's all." Catra quietly said before rushing out, nearly slamming the door behind her.
Catra's POV
Catra leaned against Adora's door. Her heart hammering in her chest so harshly that she swore everyone could hear it. The dark haired girl pushed herself off of the door and went back into her room. Melog noticed her red face and meowed at her, "Let's just hurry up and get ready for bed." She said, and changed into her own night clothes, then a thought came to mind. Adora didn't have her phone and she certainly knew that she didn't have a laptop. She only had books, so Catra could arrange a sleepover maybe. She felt Melog rub themself against her leg and purr, she knew Melog noticed her blush and twitching tail. "Alright bud, I'll take my laptop over there and we can watch a movie, you can stay here." Catra sternly said before grabbing her laptop and heading down the hall to Adora's room. She gently knocked before poking her head in to see Adora reading. "Hey Adora," Catra did her best to stifle a purr that threatened to come out loud and clear. Adora looked up and adjusted her reading glasses as Catra walked into the room, "You said you forgot your phone in the car, soo..I brought my laptop to watch a movie." Catra said, awkwardly showing her laptop and shaking it slightly. Adora smiled and put her book down and waited for Catra to get comfortable in the bed before turning off the lamp and waiting for the light on her laptop to appear. "What were you thinking of watching?" Adora asked, trying to ignore how close the two were. Catra shrugged and casually said "Anything you were up for to be honest." She scrolled through the movies before Adora picked one. Catra wiggled down and leaned against Catra, forcing Adora to put her arm around her so Catra wasn't uncomfortable and make her arm go numb. Adora cocked a brow as the opening credits played, "This is not because I like you. You're just squishy and comfortable and these pillows are like rocks." Catra lied. She really just wanted to be held.
Adora rambled a lot throughout the movie though Catra didn't mind, she found it cute. After awhile she got annoyed and sat up, she stared into Adora's gray blue eyes before gripping her chin between her index and thumb and pressing a kiss to her lips. Adora's eyes widened in surprise and confusion as Catra pulled away, "That is to make you shut up for the rest of the movie." Catra wiggled back down to hide her blush. Though the kiss worked, Adora was quiet for the rest of the movie. If Catra said she knew why she kissed Adora she'd be lying, she had no idea what possessed her to kiss her friend, she just thought it felt right. Not to mention a friend she just met again after years this past week!
The two ended up falling asleep pressed close together. The movie had ended a long time ago. Catra's mismatched eyes blinked open and nearly jumped back from how close Adora and her were. Adora had her arm around the catgirl still and her head was leaning on top of Catra's. Instead of leaving Catra snuggled closer and closed the laptop. It's like when we were younger. We cuddled a lot.. her mind excused it. Catra fell asleep soon after and felt Adora shift and pull Catra closer.
This will be one long vacation.
