Adora's POV

She grew nervous as the hours came closer to the time she had to leave. She fiddled with her dress as Glimmer did her hair. Bow gasped and handed the blonde a mirror and Adora looked at herself in the mirror. Her jaw went slack as she looked at her hair, Glimmer put it half up and half down and even put a rose in her hair. "Oh I forgot one thing," Glimmer said and put a silver necklace on Adora. "I never wear this so..here." She smiled and adjusted it before standing back to look at her. "You look absolutely gorgeous Adora." Glimmer bit her knuckle as she smiled at her work before throwing her arms around her friend in a hug. "I want some of that!" Bow chuckled before hugging them too. "Ready? We'll be there too so if you get nervous about being around people just come find us." Bow assured before helping Adora up. Adora gave a firm nod before following out of the room.
Once at the party Adora grew even more nervous. If that was even possible. Everyone was dancing and having fun, she didn't know what to do or where to go. She awkwardly looked around, adjusting her mask out of nerves. She felt out of place, she got a couple looks from people so she decided to go walk around or something.

Catra's POV

Catra arrived at the party, it wasn't like she thought it would be, she walked deeper into the party. Everyone was dancing with eachother or talking and laughing. The party made it a chore to make sure Catra's tail didn't get stepped on, she had to move it ever 5 seconds! She growled quietly to herself as she found the kitchen and leaned against the counter with a drink. She sipped it slowly as she eyed the crowd, maybe this was a bad idea, I should probably leave. I feel out of place. She thought before she caught eye of a red dress. Oh wow, she is gorgeous. The room was slightly dark so she couldn't see all too well, she followed the red dress downstairs into the ball room.
The ball room was huge and spacious, she found the red dress and smiled before tapping the shoulder of the owner. The girl turned around and she wore a dark red mask with black decorating it, she smiled and said, "Catra?" Catra's heart stopped, she recognized this voice, it was Adora's. "Gah! Adora! What are you doing here?!" She nearly screamed as she backed up, a slower paced song started playing. What a coincidence. She thought bitterly before going to grab her childhood friend's waist. "Glimmer and Bow invited me, what about you?" She asked but Catra wasn't paying that much attention. Invited huh? Of course I should've known. She mentally died before replying with "Heard it while I was out shopping." She shrugged as she twirled Adora and pulled her close. "You're a really good dancer," she smirked and flicked an ear. No, no I have to- she tuned out the screaming her brain was doing.

Adora's POV

She was happy to be dancing with Catra, though she didn't know how Catra felt. "Do you hate me?" She asked softly as she gazed at the slightly shorter woman. The mismatched eyed girl didn't answer, only looked away. Oh she thought as she they turned and swayed. The song slowly faded out, "Catra-" she stared but the catgirl went to run off. No, I won't let you go. She thought, determined and grabbed her wrist, stopping the dark brunette in her tracks. "Catra please. I am begging you, stay." She watched as Catra's head slumped forward. She heard a sigh and turned to keep dancing with her. "Fine. I'm doing this because Melog told me to." She muttered, Adora contained her giddiness and swayed with the feline woman.
They had been dancing and talking for who knows how long. She looked at her friend and she looked back at her, "I wonder how Kyle is doing." Catra wondered and turned them, Adora followed her lead. Their bodies were close and anyone who didn't look closer would've thought they were a couple. They were moving with each other to the beat of the music, Adora felt a soft thing slither around her ankle and she looked down to see Catra's tail wrapped around her ankle and it looked to her that it didn't plan on moving anytime soon. She smiled down at it before she felt herself being lifted up, "Don't worry yourself princess, I won't let you fall. Catra teased before setting her back down on her feet.

Catra's POV

What was this feeling? She hadn't felt this way since they were younger. Catra ignored it and twirled Adora again, watching her dress twirl with her, she felt her cheeks heating up. She tried to ignore how close their bodies were but she couldn't. She looked at Adora with affection and even she knew her eyes held many unsaid words, Adora's gray blue eyes looked back at her. She didn't realize her tail was wrapped around Adora's ankle and she pulled it away sheepishly, "Sorry," she said and was surprised when Adora giggled and rested her head on Catra's shoulder, "I've missed you." She whispered as they danced. Catra could feel her heart hammer against her rib cage and she smiled, "Yeah, me too." I can't settle, I'll get hurt. Her brain reminded her and she tried to shut it off.
"You have a ride princess?" Catra asked as everyone began to exit. Adora looked around and Catra chuckled, "Guess not. You can ride with me okay?" She hummed and grabbed her hand, her tail found it's way back to Adora's ankle as she led the blonde to her car. She opened the door for Adora and closed it before getting in on the drivers side. "Thanks." Adora murmured as Catra pulled out and began to drive home.
Catra walked Adora up to her door and watched her enter her house before turning around. Something in her subconscious said Kiss her. Catra's tail twitched for a moment as they just stared at each other before she leaned forward and placed her lips on Adora's. The blonde was shocked but went with it anyway, she was the first one to pull away. "Know why you did it this time?" She smirked as Catra looked away blushing, "Yeah, I do." This answer caught the blonde off guard and she smiled, "Wanna tell me why?" Catra heard her say and she looked back at the blue eyed girl, "You're such an idiot." She whispered before continuing, "Ever since I saw you again last week, the feelings I felt for you as a kid came back and..I missed you. I missed being around you but I'm scared, I'm scared to settle because I'm scared to get hurt again, Adora. You broke my heart when you left." She explained as she stood there.

Adora's POV

Adora's eyes widened as Catra explained to her, once the catgirl was done she grabbed the clawed hands and looked at her. "Then I'll help you settle, I promise I won't hurt you again." Adora vowed and pulled Catra close, who stiffened. "It's okay to be scared, but I'll be there every step of the way." She whispered and Catra relaxed, "Okay." She whispered back before pulling away after a moment and said again "Okay," she looked Adora up and down, the blonde blushed and looked away. "You looked really good tonight, I had fun." Catra murmured as she leaned in, "I had fun too, now get going." She laughed before pressing a kiss against her lips.
Once Catra left she fell back onto her bed and laughed as her fingers trailed over her lips. This is a good start. She thought and smiled up at her ceiling, I won't be alone anymore. Her smile grew as she stared.
