"Are you ready?" Mom asked from the kitchen while she was cooking breakfast.

"Hmmmm" I mummed in a yes manner.

"Please Jenny" Mom left what she was doing and turned towards me, "Don't get into any trouble" Mom said.

"I won't mom, I'm not a child anymore" I said eyeing her.

Silence prevailed for some time, I used that time to think about how my first day at the new school would be. I also thought of how I would get there, probably by a cab.

"Just please, you know what I mean" Mom said again while putting the food in front of me and put the other plate beside me and seated herself.

"I know, I know that was my life, I've left it behind" I said trying my best to sound reassuring.

"I trust you, Jenny, just don't smoke, don't drink and don't do all those other things you do" Mom said and I bowed my head.

She was talking to me about all these forgetting what she herself did. I gave her a hard glare remembering all that she'd done to me.

"See, I just do not want you to repeat my mistakes" she continued taking hold of my free hand. "I know I do not have the justification to tell you all these because I myself did it."

I quickly jolted my hands away from her hold because now her touch disgusted me.

"I would never be like you, mom" I said standing up, "I would never be so drunk at prom night to have sex and get pregnant" I said tears pricking my eyes.

"You got pregnant and the best you could do was to leave me, mom, you never paid attention to me, you never gave me love" I said letting the tears flow freely.

"Mom, you were with me but it's like you were never there, you left me desserted" I said and stormed out of the house.

I cleaned my tears and walked quite fast trying to get as far away as I could from her and that house.

After gaining the hold of myself, I stopped the tears and the sobs and walked some more trying to find a cab.

I couldn't not see anyone and I waited, classes would soon start and I did not want to be late on my first day.

Deciding to walk there, I pulled out my mobile and searched the Google Map for my way there.

Appearing on my screen, I prepared myself for the walk though it was quite far on leg. As I was about moving a car halted in front of me.

"Hi, where you going" he said with the same straight face and a cold voice.

"Hi, you are the person who came to my house yesterday" I said thinking internally if he was following me or something.

"Yeah and I asked a question" he said without even looking towards my direction.

"Oh!, yes I'm going to Mountain High and I can't seem to find a cab" I said and turned to continue my journey.

"Hop in" he said more like whispered but I heard it.

"Excuse me, what did you say" I said blinking my eyes twice and tilted my head to one side.

"I said hop in, we are following the same path" he said this time looking at me.

"Oh no, don't worry I would find a cab or something, you go ahead" I said knowing I would regret it given how far it is if I walk.

"Ok" he said dryly and revved the engine, his window glass coming up.

In less than few minutes he was out of my eye shot. I cursed myself internally for refusing and I also cursed him giving in so easily.
