Amanda.
I woke up early enough so that I could get everything ready and set. Putting everything into the car, I went up to wake Jenny but she was already awake.
"I'm ready mom, let's go" she said excitement written all over her face. This was not what I expected, for the first time in years she is given me a sincere smile. I knew all these, the smile, the joy they will all soon wear off.
"Okay" I said plastering a smile on my face and moved towards my room to freshen up. After I was done with that I wore simple clothings and tied my hair into a ponytail, I also packed extra clothes in case.
I went downstairs and heated the leftover for the both of us. We seated ourselves at the dining table and she went on and on on how she would bake and all.
I just seated there wishing I could capture this feeling and store it in a jar. We talked some more and after breakfast she handled the dishes and also cleared the table.
Sitting on the driver's seat, she seated on the passenger's and started texting on her mobile. I revved the engine and we were on our way to the bakery.
"Wow mom, it's the same path to my school" she said again showing her white teeth with her big smile and I just hummed.
"Well after school it wouldn't be a problem for me to just come over" she continued still with her smile.
I was driving but all my focus was on my daughter sitting beside me, the one that for a brief moment had forgotten all that I had done to her.
'Mommmmm, be careful" she shouted and attempted to hold the wheel but I stabled the car and dodged the other car about to hit us.
'Thanks" I said smiling. I had mixed feelings now, on the one hand my daughter is happy on the other hand it will just be for this moment.
With that thought in mind I focused on the road and reached our destination. I went to the trunk to start the offloading.
"Nice name mom" Jenny said from the front of the car and I squeezed my face.
"What?" I asked.
"Grey's Bakery" she said.
"Huh" I said and moved to where she was standing. There it was beautifully written and well decorated standing in its glory.
"I didn't put that there actually I was waiting for you to choose a name" I said and assessed the nicely decorated printing.
"Then who did" she said, "Whatever let's go in and get baking and by the way I approve the name" she continued.
I nodded but my eyes assessed the surrounding to see who might have put it there and it stopped at a particular fellow, it was Andrew.
He waved from afar and looked up at the printing after that gave me a thumbs up and disappeared.
"Mom" Jenny said and shook me, "What, what is there" she said looking towards the direction I was just staring at Andrew but nobody was there now.
"N...Nothing" I lied, "Let's go" I continued and then we headed for the trunk.
We both carried a handful of what we could carry and left a little in the trunk to come back and take it. Settling inside Jenny took in the breath of a fresh new place and looked around.
"Nice design too" she complimented and I smiled because the interior was my handwork. We entered the kitchen and placed everything in order.
"When should we start?" Jenny asked.
